  I don’t have one of these but, I think, the idea is to have a blanket over your legs. This would allow you to read a book, etc, without the top half getting cold.

    I have a similar (thinner) one like this and it's actually very good at making you warm all over cause it keeps the core warm, sort of thing. But yes I couple with a blanket if needed.
