Buyers beware, the store has stolen a different store's graphics. However it seems to have a relatively ok feedback based on goods sold previously.
I paid with Paypal just in case.

Cheapest ever, I paid an even lower price because I had a $8 discount attached to my account. It worked out to be about $291 AUD using Revolut.
You can access SSH for the router via a bunch of steps you can find online.
Powerful router, nothing to suggest data going to China just yet (Openwrt forums).

    Can it fry eggs?

    • I think it has a massive cooler so probably cannot, but it's perfect for this current weather :)

      • Did you go with US Plug? Planning to use a international adapter?

        • +1

Went with us plug, just throwing adapter on it

  • +1

    Grabbed one.

Don't forget to add 6% cashback

    • +1

Which plug did you go with? Struggling to decide

      • +1

I chose the US one. It doesn't really matter if you have a universal plug adapter or power board.

Come up with $299.15 incl GST with all coupons from the phone App before the cashback.

It seems the app get few $$ cheaper than the desktop site.

I prefer UK socket plug. The three beefy pins hold better in the universal adapters. US 2 pins tend to fall out and can ark.

        • Thanks, saw diffusal's comment below on '…looking through the forums the international one may be less powerful to adhere to eu standards' so I went with the US plug too. Shall see how the 2pins look like and maybe get a fitter adapter

        • I would have done the same but only EU and us, the EU one I think is the 2 pin as well not the big chunky UK one you are thinking of. Also not sure there is an international version just yet either.

No brainer for me… US plug, then use pliers to slightly twist the prongs to convert to AU… The plug is normally smaller and better than an AU plug at the end of it too

Don't you want the global version for these routers, or can you readily stop it from phoning home to China?

    • +1

Yes, I'm sure Xinping is very interested in your ozbargain habit.

"This gweilo, always talking about China and hacking. But we then hack into his bank account.. even uncle Roger is sad. "

I mean there's more to not wanting readily comprised hardware than just being spied upon, such as not being an instrument to cyber-terrorism, not encouraging some of the market mechanisms that promote such behaviour…

The base concepts also extend beyond Chinese interests.

As it turns out there doesn't appear to be a concern, with custom firmware options as well.

        • People care less about cyber security and privacy. Most are happy as long as they can get the Tick tock on or get their Insta posts up.

        • @jasswolf This is very true. They would use your device as part of a bot net. To DDoS other networks or use your device as a jump host to attack other networks masking their attack and making you out as the perpetrator.

I would only ever put these devices behind another vendors firewall.

Not sure there's a difference, from looking through the forums the international one may be less powerful to adhere to eu standards. Not sure if that's true but I think at the end of the day it's a firmware thing. So far the users haven't found it phoning home and plenty of good reviews on openwrt. I'm unlocking SSH as soon as I get mine.

    • Are you planning to unlock SSH like this? https://github.com/KaMyKaSii/Unlock-SSH-on-Xiaomi-and-Redmi-…

Read around and look like reason to unlock SSH is to have an encrypted access in the event of a remote access connection?

      • +1

Not sure it's as simple as that, I'm mainly using SSH for vlan settings. I'm not too fussed about the router calling home because I am sitting it behind a firewall so can easily detect and block (which there aren't any yet btw).

        https://forum.openwrt.org/t/openwrt-support-for-xiaomi-ax900…

That's the easiest method otherwise you'll have to have a second openwrt handy to unlock SSH.

        • thanks, I see now; i'll just use it stock, seems to be fine as-is too

  • How does it compares to Asus RT-AX88u ?

a router for this price should have Wifi 6E, don't know why fabricants don't put it on this to be affordable.
BTW router with Wifi6E are soooo expensive.

Ordered one, but looks like the seller is doing a bait and switch. Just got this message today:

Hello, my friend, because we have been using Wuyou logistics to deliver goods, this is very cheap, but now it is only shipped within 2kg, our product weighs 3kg, I'm sorry, so if you are willing to add 15 dollars to pay the extra freight, I will help you with DHL logistics delivery, which can deliver 3 kilograms of goods, and the logistics time will be shorter, faster to you, hope to get your understanding

    • Me too, I told them to suck it. What's the best thing to do on AliExpress in these hostage situations?

      • +1

Got this message as well - whats the best way to approach this
        - cancel via PayPal
        - pay $15 (likely USD)
        - cancel via AliExpress

        • Seller saying he can't ship to Australia now and wants account details to refund. Scam for sure I'm thinking. You get yours?

    • +1

Thank god for paypal and the countdown timer. Thanks for the heads up. I hit cancel on my order and put the reason as seller couldn't ship via original shipping method.

  • +1

Found an article saying to report this to AliExpress administrator - https://megabonus.com/en/blog/what-can-i-do-if-the-seller-as…

    Thoughts anyone

    • +1

Thanks Classo, I hit cancel on my order and put the reason as seller not shipping using original agreed shipping method.

      • thanks, I just did the same too - bit sus with this seller since he took down the advertisement page too

  • This aliexpress seller is not honest
Purchased then he asked for shipping I paid extra usd 10 and after 20 days he said courier can not post
Open dispute, straight after refunded router and shipping payment
Do not buy from this store
