Samsung QN800A - Price Check $4990 That Ok?

Hi all, about to pull the trigger on a QN800A 75" online purchase for $4990. That price reasonable and can i do better???

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-qn800a-75-neo-qle…

  • I've selected this over OLED as my lounge room has a lot of light and very high reflections.
  • Don't have any experience with the connect box. My tv is wall mounted and there is no entertainment unit below (so i may need to hide the box behind the tv somehow?)
  • i would like 8k as this TV will hopefully last a decade. (wishful i know)

There is a promotion for a Samsung sound bar, for another $79 netting a HW-Q700A. I'm not fussed by the soundbar, and will likely sell it.

Cheers,
M

For me, I'd get the 75" 4k version for $2000 or the 85" 4k version for $3200 - Good Guys Commercial pricing

  • That is basically the going price.

$4850 here with up to $1000 samsung cashback offer

    • Thanks for your advice.
      I ended up purchasing the Qn800a 75" for $4500.

  • Good Guys has a bonus Logitech keyboard for it

Buy it with this soundbar to get $1,000 off.. it's not a free soundbar, it's more than that!

What a shame as the 77C1 OLED was recently $5596 ;)

Given how much actual 4k content there is now, so many years after it was first available, I'm not sure you'll see much benefit for at least 5 years.

Yeah "future-proofing" tech is a fool's game, especially for TVs.

What it really means is paying a premium for being an early adopter, and then having no actual content to take advantage of that 8K. And then by the time 8K content becomes readily accessible, your TV is missing all the new features that HDMI 5.3/600Hz/Dolby Surround Atmos Digivolved Omega brought around in the years in-between.

Oh yeah and the 8K TVs are mainstream now and half the price for better features.

Just get 4K and enjoy today's content, then get 8K later on when its no longer a marketing gimmick and kick the 4K TV over to the bedroom/guestroom/bathroom.
