eBay - Create Postage Label Not Working.Told to Use AP Direct Website

So i've just sold an item on ebay for a little over $1600, and usually just print a postage label from within ebay with all the added extras. But today it isn't working, it just comes up with "Something went wrong".

I've tried multiple variations of labels, dimensions, etc. and nothing works. I contacted ebay support and they said just use the AusPost website to make a label. Which I'm fine to do, but before I do that, just wanting to know if anyone else is having those issues today?

I was going to try sendle, but looked it up and the reviews aren't that flash so don't want to risk it with this high valued item.

All Auspost was down for a couple hours earlier today, seems to be ok now. It's pretty standard on a Monday unfortunately.

    • It's "pretty standard" just about every day of late.

I have that issue occasionally for a month or two. I've had no luck fixing it so I just create my own address label and pay for it at the post office.

    • Yeah I'm thinking I'll just have to bite the bullet and create the label from the AusPost website.

Is OZB becoming the new Google ?

I'm wanting to know if this is a regular occurrence with others, or if it's just a system issue which might fix itself if I wait.

As this is a high priced item, I'm more comfortable just processing it through ebay, then DIY'ing it and adding tracking details manually. A few messages I've got from the buyer has also got me slightly worried as he asked me to send it to a different address to the one listed on ebay. I said no to that.

Ps. I see you have made some forum posts where I'm sure you could've worked it out without making a post about it ;)

@Danstar: Good move as I'm pretty sure you'd lose seller protection if you'd sent it to another address that what was listed in the order. They can redirect the parcel themselves if they like, but then they lose a lot of their buyer protections.
Although I recently had a buyer open an 'item not received' case when they'd asked Australia post to redirect the parcel which caused a delay. It still irks me that when I called them out on the redirect, they said that although 'I wasn't directly responsible' for the delay it was still taking too long…

As for the actual issue, it's happened to me 2-3 times within the last two months. I've probably shipped 15-20 other things without issue.

  • Happened to me few times, checked my account and I was charged for the labels that were not created.

Had to ask ebay for refund which I got.

    • Hopefully that’s not the case. Cos I’ve tried hitting “create label” around 30-50 times lol
