    Pre order?

Is centrecom good to buy from?

    • +4

Good enough. For this price, they're more than fine.

    • Not for me. I'll never buy anything from them again.

      • +2

        Can you share why?

        • +12

          Long story…
Bought my first laptop from them for uni. 19 y/o at the time, not much $ to my name. Within a week, laptop wouldn't boot. Took it back to them to ask if they could take a look.
No problem they said. Fix it up and have it back to you next week.
They neglected to mention that it'd cost me $75 (a lot to me, back then). I was told the cost when I went to pick it up, and tried to argue. I'd assumed it was a warranty thing. But they were adamant that I was never seeing my new laptop again unless I coughed up the cash.
Never went back again, and never will.

            @EvilRabbit:

Never went back again, and never will.

So you left them with your laptop because of the $75 charge.

            • +5

              @RSmith: Haha.. not quite.
They got my $75. I felt extorted.

              • +1

@EvilRabbit: If you want to see really bad service try Gamedude in Brisbane!!!

          • +11

@EvilRabbit: Isn't that some kind of illegal to charge you extra money for a warranty claim?

            • @dsiritz: As someone who used to repair computers at an apple authorsied repair centre, i can tell you that most brands including Apple do not provide warranty for software issues, only hardware issues.
Of course we would make this very clear when someone brought a computer in for "repair" as a lot of the time, it was software issues we were required to fix, and that came with a $75 service fee.

          • @EvilRabbit: Australian Consumer Law (ACL) basically says that if there IS a warranty issue, then it should cost you ZERO to get it fixed; ACL is good for consumers and very bad for sellers. especially if the product should have a reasonable life expectancy beyond the manufacturer's warranty If the seller can't get it fixed by the disty and/or the manufacturer, then the seller very quickly becomes heavily disadvantaged.

So, if it was a warranty issue, it really should have cost you nothing. If it was a different service, then that might be a different matter.

I made a similar mistake on my first car, taking it to Midas, where they royally ripped me off and I knew no better at the time.

Edit: actually it is also a problem for consumers in that there are less businesses that can compete fairly with very low margins and that means price goes up for everyone.

  • "The coupon code you entered couldn't be applied to your order" (Apple Pencil 2) gee, really glad I gave them all my details before they screwed me.

    • I just ordered an Apple Pencil 2. No problems using the discount code.

      • Got it, hadn't checked the box in the cart. First time buy here, reminds me of the old days of shopping at MSY.

  • Any significant benefit of getting one of these if one has the apps on a console? (I.e PS4/ PS5/ XO/ XSX/ XSX)

Anyone with both one of these devices and console - and is heavy user of Apple TV chime in please?

    • +1

I can’t comment on consoles but if anyone is wondering if this is worth it over using apps on say a Samsung smart tv I’d say it depends. If you’re into the Apple ecosystem or if you value quality of life type improvement then yes. It’s not clunky like on tv and so much nice to use if you have an iPhone Apple Watch etc.

    • I like the Apple TV as it is faster to load up and I think I just like the remote control user experience over the controller. Plus I have an iPad and tend to mirror stuff from time to time.

    • +1

      i have both.
the menu on the aplle tv i better and faster and has lots of apps in it like a chromecast etc

    • +3

Console apps are absolute garbage. They don't support frame rate matching and a lot of the time they convert all content to HDR. Your console also uses a lot more electricity than a streaming box.

The Apple TV also has more apps available and a remote you can use instead of a controller.

    • +1

i have apple tv - used to use combination of LG smart TV app and PS5, plus an old Foxtel Now streaming box.

Apple TV is brilliant in terms of performance, UX, the remote is next level and the voice control absolutely worth using.

It works even better if you use Apple Music, or have an iphone or other apple device with a photo or media library that you want to use as it all syncs really well.

If you have an iphone, you just hold it near the apple TV and then enter a password and it syncs all of your home network and account details - it's really rather good.

Performance for streaming seems very good too - I've rarely had a dropout.

Does anyone know if Officeworks will pricematch this?

    • +1

Bendigo store says low stock, 3 others say call.. rest are out of stock. Give it a try and report back?

    • +2

No, I believe it has to be ticketed price so they won’t price match coupons.

  • I just tried to make an order for an apple tv and I applied the code, but didn't discount the price, so I didn't go ahead with the Order..

    • +1

Same. The coupon code was accepted but the price didn't change.

Edit. Doesn't work for the Apple Pencil either.

  • +5

Code not working for Apple tv4K. Any idea why?

    • +3

      I'm having the same problem.
I did notice the site earlier this morning said that that code can be applied for the discount to this item, but I wasn't ready to make the transaction at the time. Even though I can add the code and it registers, the total order price doesn't reflect this, so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger and pay.

  • +1

This seems marketing trick. Most of the time "not in stock" or "pre-order" at normal price…People are not going to buy at normal price from your store…so why to trick

  • +1

According to its website, the code is only for iphone & ipad accessories.

    • +4

Confirmed the code is accepted but doesn't improve the price. Deal should be marked as expired.

  • +1

Seems they have set the value of the code to $0 now

  • +2

    Code is not working

    • +2

The code works but is is $0 value.. different error using an invalid code. I think a few people have been caught out buying at full price with it working like this.

  • +1

Code applying correctly to HomePod Mini for example, but not these Apple TV's

  • +3

For everyone saying code expired, well it hasn't because you can still apply it. Also terms and conditions of the promo state that it ends today at 10pm. Something dodgy is going on in the website and when I rang them, they said they are working on fixing it.

thanks for doing the leg work!

    • -1

      still nothing sadly

  • +1

Of course after I buy the atv on ebay a week ago now this comes out. Fml

  • +1

I ordered early this morning. 64gb ATV and 2nd gen pencil. Let’s see if they fulfil it.

  • Offer Period. This offer commences at 03:30 (AEST) on 09 August 2021 and ends at 22:00 (AEST) on 23 August 2021 (“Offer Period”). Centre Com reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time.

So, not expired yet, but only available for particular stock and not for back orders and with no rain checks; BUT they can cancel the offer at any time! Supposed to expire at 22:00 tonight. It may have also been only meant for iPhone and IPad accessories from the email I received, so them applying it for Apple TV and/or other products was probably a mistake.

Just did a quick and general check and found it still applies to this product for instance:

  • Thank you! Got one last night!

  • Anyone's ship yet ?

    • Ordered Sunday night, dispatched yesterday arvo and it’s popped up (“getting prepared”) on AusPost app for me this morning.

      • Strange ordered same time mines waiting stock

        • Update expected stock 31/8 8-(

  • +1

Anyone have a update ? Feel like they overcommitted

    • +1

I think, more like an accidental discount; they probably only meant it to be for i-accessories. And how you get an Apple TV to be an i-accessory is a stretch.

Some people were lucky and it will be great for them if it is actually honoured!

    • I got an update today that my Apple TV and Pencil 2 have been dispatched.

      • Received both items yesterday!

  • Me yesterday but tracking not working

  • Anyone got the refund email for Apple TV?

    • Received cancellation email but not yet refunded

      • Got this email
