OzBargain's dream collection for sale - 1991 Toyota Corolla CSI sedan, 1997 Toyota Camry CSI and 2002 Toyota Avalon Sorrento

https://www.drive.com.au/news/keen-on-bland-this-trio-of-imm…

Thought someone on OzB might want to collect all these low km unmolested Camry.

Forget about those newish Camry running on 2GR… go for the classics that were made in AU.

$45k for the lot of 3, actually, not a bad deal given today's market.

They are having a laugh, aren't they? Photo of them in front of E-Type Jag, Porsche and Ferrari models. Back in the day, $45,000 would have almost bought you all these cars + spare change… :D

The '91 Corolla CSi 1.6 was about middle of the range (after SE and CS). $19,660 new. (Used price guide $800 to $1,800)
The '97 Camry CSi 2.2 was the bottom of the range shitter at any rate. $26,800 new. (Used price guide $1,200 to $2,700)
The '02 Avalon Sorrento was the second lowest in the shitter tier for that model. $31,990 new. (Used price guide $1,300 to $2,800)

Guess it answers this question for you…

    • If any, available for sale, would easily have 100,000km+ on the clock.

I reckon these Camrys will outlast the Jag. Haha

The Avalon was also quite dated reheated trash. Launched in the US in 1994 and sold there until phased out in 1999 before they recycled some of the tooling and started making it here from 2000-2005 and tried to fool us that it was an 'all-new' model (even thought it was effectively an old 90s design) most people knew better thankfully

    Oh, what a car ad!

It's as if Scotty from Marketing wrote it!

Testing water, to make Australia great again.

  • A true Ozbargainer would split this deal three-ways.

    • This is not a deal.

Hence at the forum section. Haha.

        • Fair enough :)

        • it’s a savvy and incredibly good bang for buck buy.

          but Scotty reckons it's deal-worthy 😉

  • Jokes aside. It works out to be cir $15k for a low mileage Toyota.

Assuming the cars are in good condition, seems reasonable. Let's face it, $15k nowadays can barely buy a Toyota of this size with under 100k kms on them.

    Just a thought.

  • That 97 Camry would be a better buy than most of the 2 to 3 year throw aways on offer these days.

if you mean throwaway euros yes

but asians cars will get to 250-300,000 no issue

also there's the question of safety

while i would love an old classic car like a 68 mustang i dont know if driving around in a car like a 1990 corolla is a good idea what with its 0 ncap and no bags no active safety

  • unmolested Camry.

    Provenance/authentication supplied?

it has the patina of Aunt Madge and the lawn bowls marks in the boot and the crocheted parcel shelf cover and the faint odor of hand cream on the plastic steering wheel.
