Their coffee is very good, however, this is not competitive in the current market if you are looking for a great deal on quality coffee generally.

There will be people who want a deal on this specific coffee and that's great for them.

  • +2

There are so many fantastic coffee providers that provide fresh roasted beans delivered for around the $30-35 mark.
That's not to knock 5 Senses coffee - their product is great.

    • Can you suggest any other bean providers? Just bought my wife a machine.

Airjo, Inglewood, Lime blue, Manna beans

I love 5 senses but $42 on special currently is no bargain

    • Where can I get it cheaper?

      • +1

Search for recent posts from Coffe on Cue and Sensory Lab.

        • +2

          That's not the same product..
It would be like switching Coca cola with Coles cola because of the price and saying it's the same.

          • @swimmingtoad: Where did I say you could get it cheaper, I said it was not a bargain, 2 different things - from my experience there are and have been plently of similar quality coffees much cheaper.

          • +1

@swimmingtoad: Not entirely, I'm a big fan of Dark Horse. I bought the recent Sensory Lab deal specifically because its such great value.

This is still a good deal for this product.

I find a lot of people on ozbargain forget that some people are looking for deals on the products/brands they specifically want and not the absolute cheapest/best value offering in the segment.

    • +1

Oh wait you didn't say sensory lab. Found this cheaper elsewhere? Otherwise if dark horse is your go to coffee, this seems like a legit deal.

  • Premium coffee for ~40kg get a plus from me.

IMO Best coffee roaster by a long way, although airjo is very good… followed by inglewood.

sounds like you only have bought the oz bargain specials of late and know little about coffee outside of that?

      • +1

Wow sir, you are an example of why OZbargain is no longer what it once was.

I've been using this site for like 15 years, although I think I've only had this account for a few years. You do you fam.

          • @Bargain Slut: Also, potentially I misread- my comment was based on the idea that I believe I saw a negative next to your post. Would appear I am possibly mistaken.

      • How are you not from Melbourne lol

    • +1

Agree with his guy $40/kg is the sweet spot. Try humbler, padre or code black from directcoffee.

I'm on the sensory lab because that's $48 for 2kgs atm. Not sure how good it is.

      • Right now $40p/kg is almost expensive with the current deals people are offering to try and make up for the volume loss Covid is probably driving. Sensory Lab is quite good. Little Marionette also recently had a BOGOF on their 1kg bags and I would recommend at that price.

I'm not knocking people who just want an outright bargain, but coffee is a pretty subjective thing for a lot of people and there are definitely those who will pay more for the brand they want. A smaller discount isn't always a worse discount for everyone with this sort of a product.

        • Agree $40 is about my max for a blend atm. There's alot of rubbish tho I'm not buying stuff especially coffee just because it's cheap. Hoping sensory lab isn't rubbish.

      • +1

Sesnory Lab is pretty rubbish. i ended up having to reducing the milk on a 1:1.5 dose on bean that said they were 7 days from roasting, but the crema told me differently. They are a Coles stocked brand, I didn't expect much and was still disappointed.

        • for $24 bucks a kilo I am a fan - at full price you can definitely do better. I've bought their stuff before, admittedly from Coles when I was in a pinch and didn't hate it, circumstances considered.

At the price of the special I wouldn't hesitate if you're after a good deal.

  • Thank you!
