Lenovo Flex 5 - BSOD - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION - Anyone else?

Ok, so this is driving me crazy.

I love the Flex 5, but this is the second unit mucking up on me (first one had a broken screen)

The device crashes:
1) Almost every time I switch WIFI networks
2) Often when restarting. As I try to login with fingerprint/pin, freezes, crashes (blue screen), restarts, then happens again and again and again.
System didn't restart properly, etc.
Eventually,I can randomly login.

Anyone have any experience with these kind of errors? At my wit's end by now…

TIA

Comments

  • Done all updates and BIOS updates? Tried sfc /scannow?

    • Yes I believe so - if anything I'm inclined to think it may have been caused by an update

      • Have you tried disabling wifi in BIOS? Does it still crash?

        • Not yet… Seems to boot up fine in safe mode

    • Trying sfc /scannow now… Thanks

  • Sfc scanner said it found and fixed corrupt files… Let's see how we go now…

  • Are you able to use a Windows Restore Point? Your computer might have already made a few prior to your 'bad' update.

Is one of your access points a Telstra Smart Router Gen 2?

+1. Had the exact same issue with my desktop. This fixed it completely.

  • Is the SSD firmware up date? Try checking the health of the drive.

Recently had the same BSOD message. Found out my poor 250gb NVMe has had 80TB written to it and is at 50% health.

    • Plotting Chia in your spare time eh?

      • Lol. This is actual usage from the past 3 years. Most of the writes are from software development and me doing fresh windows install every 3 months.

  • Thanks guys for all the suggestions - a reset seems to have done the trick for now

  • I have 2 of these and neither from Amazon, and neither has a working webcam. I believe it's driver related.

Anyhow, the first one bought last year started to have a fault in the keyboard. It was reported whilst in warranty and now the keyboard has died altogether.

However, Lenovo Australia refuses to help as it was an Amazon US item despite bought via Amazon AU. There is no warranty in Australia for this from day 1.

They didn't even bother to provide the option for me to send it back to the US for repair.

So don't buy if from it's going to come from Amazon US
