The trick is link your credit card with your paypal,
then pay the bill with paypal by Auspost app
        no fee at all

        • Ooh didn't know that- will check it out :) So assuming only possible via AusPost app and not on their website or postbillpay?

@Craze: I have never used their website
The app lets you to scan the barcode with your phone camera
I am not patient enough to enter those numbers every time 😂

Be aware that no matter you pay over the counter in store, or use their app or website, if you pay directly by your credit card, there is still a surcharge.
This is why you need to go through PayPal

  • Free cash advance using cc to buy this ?

    • -2

Be careful, bank can treat this purchase as cash advance, they usually don't allow gift cards but have no way to tell it it's in-store transaction. Online might be very different.

      • +2

what are you talking about? if you can buy it online it won't be a cash advance purchase and if it is a cash advance purchase it will pop up in your face with a warning

        • -4

Check your credit card conditions of use before doing it.

From ANZ, for no other reason than it was easy to look it up:

‘cash advance’ means a debit to the credit card account:
          (a) which results in you receiving actual cash
(whether at a branch or via electronic equipment
or by other means and whether in Australian
currency or in a foreign currency)
          (b) where the funds are used to purchase ‘cash
equivalent’ items or substitutes including, but not
limited to, traveller’s cheques, money orders, wire
transfers or international money transfers or for
          transactions for gambling or gaming purposes;
          (c) where the funds are used to purchase, or load
value on, a pre-paid or stored-value card or
          facility;

          • @[Deactivated]: once the transaction goes through they can't do anything from what I found.. but then again, I don't have any bank issued credit cards

            • -1

@Poor Ass: Oh, they most certainly can, ANZ for one is known to qualify lottery tickets bought from Auspost as cash advance, it's on bank's discretion.

Also I have zero idea what popup you're talking about.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: I think Lottery tickets have been getting classified as a cash advance with many banks as they consider it's a form of gambling.

      • This is completely untrue DainB.

        • -1

I don't care what you think, I gave you a solid proof that these transactions can be qualified as cash advance.

Feel free go argue with ANZ.

  • +1

    Do they take Amex ?

  • +1

Their website supports apple pay on iphone, so good for Zip's 2% cashback I think.

    • Nope you can't. you can only earn cashback by tapping your phone thro zip-linked Google/Apple Pay
Also you can only withdraw your cashback from zip when it reaches $30
that means min spending = $30/2%=$1500
Most annoyingly, they set a deadline every time. You need to spend $1500 by 31 Aug

      • I have used apple pay for in app purchase for several times. All got tracked.

        • They change the T&C a bit each time.
Last time was until 30 June, this time until 31 Aug
I am not 100% sure as I found the reward meaningless

  • +1

I'm confused as to what the actual 'bargain' is.

    • +3

the bargain is that you use the EFTPOS gift card at places that has credit card surcharge but instead pay with SAVINGS

      • Ok.
        Not for me then.
I am with a major bank that issues EFTPOS cards associated with Visa, so I can use either settlement method as I wish.

        • +2

I guess you earn credit card points by buying this gift card with a credit card when you don't generally with savings

          otherwise yes you can

          • +1

@Poor Ass: In my view, credit card points are not worth bothering with. On the flipside, I suppose parking some of my money (from either my cash or as credit card debt) with you has a benefit for the provider.
Can I access my money in cash from an ATM? If so, which provider (e.g. bank) supports that?
I assume I can't use this card for online purchases?

It is starting to sound a little like the Indue Card?

            • -4

@GG57: It's EFTPOS, supposedly you can get cash at any Woolies/Coles/Aldi/Auspost.

Although other brand of EFTPOS cards says:
The Gift Card can be used to make purchases at any EFTPOS merchant, subject to the merchant’s discretion. The Gift Card cannot be used to withdraw cash at ATM or EFTPOS facilities.

So I guess trial and error.

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Last time I tried to get cash out from Woolies using $88 Chinese New Year eftpos gift card, I couldn’t.

                • +3

                  @kelasen: yeah, this one says

Your eftpos Gift Card can be used to make purchases at merchant that accepts eftpos, subject to the merchant’s discretion. Your gift card cannot be used to withdraw cash.

                  bummer

            • +2

@GG57: it's not a bank card it's a gift card… no gift cards can ever exchange for cash unless it's a Bunnings <$10 change from a gift card

              I was like aiming for:

              1. buy EFTPOS gift card with credit card earn some points
              2. use the EFTPOS gift card as savings to avoid cc surcharge at some retailers
    • +2

It’s like cash with more steps?

      • How so? Don't think this will allow you to withdraw cash as mentioned above

        • Yes, but the money you use to buy this card can be withdrawn from your bank account and then used to buy things at places that accept eftpos if you are particularly worried about fees.

          • +2

@LuckyDrew: Or you could just use your bank-issued EFTPOS card? Without tying up any of your money in another 'account', or waiting for a 'gift card' to be delivered.

Great for paying bills at the post office?

    • +1

      $200x5 is the max

    • +2

Can this be used to pay ATO at post office ?

  • +6

Lol at the people who cant see the utility in this deal. perfect for anyone trying to get their "spend $3000 in 3 months" quota for all those credit card points deals out there. Thanks OP.

    • Ok, I hadn't thought of that scenario (and neither has OP based on discussions above).
      But is 'utility' a bargain?

      • +1

I thought I covered it when I wrote

        1. buy EFTPOS gift card with credit card earn some points

        sorry mate :( I've failed

        • OP, you da real MVP dot gif :P

      • +2

Current HSBC credit card deal, $0 annual fee, spend $3000 in 3 months, get $500 in free gift cards. i suspect that $500 of gift cards is utility to most people. This in effect is a bargain because with most eftpos pre-paid visa/debit cards, you're slugged a processing fee ($5-10 bucks) and in effect this helps people delay needless purchases to hit their spend, without spending money on stuff they dont need.

    • -2

Yeah, as if buying from merchant whose whole business is to sell gift cards won't trigger your bank's cash advance rules.

      • +1

never been an issue with me and I buy 5 digits worth each year using credit cards

        • I believe you. But your luck might not extend to someone else.

          • @[Deactivated]: I think maybe it's just with bank issued credit cards… but non bank issued cc'd haven't had an issue. who knows you might of jinxed me haha

      • +1

It will not 'trigger your bank's cash advance rules.'

You really need to stop posting false informationabout how these cards work.

        • -1

The only "false information" I posted is an excerpt from one of Big 4 banks terms and conditions.

You can chose ignore it or not, but unless you have something tangible to prove I'm wrong I'd suggest you watch your mouth with accusations like that.

  • This is not useful to me, but I'll give it a plus, as I see the value.
Better than most of the ebay deals with unicorm eligible items clauses.

  • can this be used to pay taxes at AusPost ?

    • if it accepts savings then yes

      • Does the Eftpos card have a pin ?

  • +1

This is nice for those who want points and the shop doesn't accept Amex. Eftpos seems like it is only in-store however, and I cant use it online.

    • -1

In a way it also means it is safer aka less susceptible to online fraudulent transactions

      • +1

…less susceptible to online fraudulent transactions… in that it can't be used online?

  • +1

My Amex explorer has a 10 x bonus points offer for payment via a digital wallet (Google Pay, Samsung Pay etc). I think this will quality.

    • if true, jackpot babbbbbby!

With this, I think we are really only saving $7.95 (the cost of Express shipping). If one were to OPT for Standard Shipping it is free.

    • You thought wrong the free shipping is a bonus but not the main incentive/s

  • ordered 1 Eftpos200 and 1ï„… Eftpos 30 added promo code but it still comes up as free standard shipping at check out . paid with apple pay linked to zip got 2 % back. anyone get free express shipping to work?

    • is there a way to pay by google pay linked to zip pay for the 2 percent cashback?

      • yes google pay is listed at check out too as Express checkout along with Shop Pay. has anyone tried Shop Pay is it free and safe? i know you can add amex to it but does it offer a buy now pay later option for Australia or just in the USA?

        • could not see google pay at checkout as a option?

          • @ssdexecutor82: It's on the first page - before final checkout.

          • @ssdexecutor82: it appears near the end of checkout process shop pay and google. note i was using chrome desktop maybe different on phone

            • @coolsteps: found it but is asking me to add a credit card even though i have google pay set up with zip pay already?

              • @ssdexecutor82: for zip i think you,ll need to use your mobile phone like i did with apple pay dont think zip will be an option via desktop?

                • @coolsteps: Moot point now…

                • @coolsteps: got a android phone keeps asking to add credit card even though i have google pay setup on phone with zip pay added
