Front Load Washing Machine - Budget $1300

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a front load washing machine ideally 10-14 kgs under $1300.

But I am looking for a model that has the largest capacity quick wash (ideally sub 40 mins) as most are rated 12 kg drum but when it comes to the quick wash which my family would use its only 4-6kgs.

The only brand I have found that has a decent size is Beko (BFL103ADW) which is 10kg drum size and quick wash capacity. Ideally looking for larger then that and also if anyone has feedback on Beko products?

Thank you in advance

  • +1 for Beko!
Had 5#17 loads of front loaders over the past - won't go back to a top loader anytime soon, if at all.

Bosch (had 2) - the last one was good but had a problem just after the warranty ended - kept working despite the issue (timer/controller), until someone overloaded it to a point that the clutch went! Still can't believe how much some people throw into a washing machine load (friend while I was away, just for the record).
Samsung - died and was super problematic.
    LG - was just junk.
Electrolux - had a few in the family. All pretty good, except 3 I know of all had solenoid issues. Easy and cheapish fix (30mins if you know what you're doing and sub $50). But annoying nevertheless.
Mielie - family has a few of these and they are great also. Any servicing can be a bit exe though, as is the case with most, depending on the issue.
Asko - not bad, but not worth the money from those I've heard from owners I know.

Picked up an EOL Beko 10kg around 18 months ago from JB. Super cheap ($1000 off)! Lucky me.
Has had one issue, where the drum will spin unbalanced. It's very weird. Had a tech out, who was surprised also. It's flat and levelled out correctly, but when it did have the issue, it scratched the glass inside the door. Seems to have been ok since a small part (can't remember) was replaced.

For the money, 5yr warranty (extend if you like and the retailer offers further) - hands down the best from those mentioned above in my experience.
I look at it this way - $1300 (in your case of budget) / 5 yr = $260/yr to wash your clothes (minus liquid/water/power) or $5/week is pretty good if the gear holds up!

There is some good sales on Beko if you can hold out also, otherwise let your web surfing skills find you a price and then ask the retailer to match or beat it! :)

    • That is great feedback, i'm not against buying them I just was looking at F&P, LG or Bosch as I was more confident in the brands. Ill look at them closer based on your feedback. With the sales is there a time of year or just hold out if I can?

      • Depends if you need one now or not? lol…

See if someone will cut you a deal now, if so and you want/need, then swipe away with the plastic.

F&P - found them to be junk too (sadly - wanted to like it, but it was junk also).

The problem often found with front loaders is that the rubber seal will become mouldy, so make sure you keep the door open. (assuming you might not have had one before).
Also, don't use powder in the soap tray, unless the manf says it's ok for that model. Best to put the powder into the drum usually.
The controller boards often go in front loaders as well, as the steam/moisture from hot water rises into the controller and kills them. That is what happened to 2 of mine in the past after a few years. Tech came out, checked, advised the problem, swapped out the boards and then away they went again. At 70% +/- the cost of a new washer, I went for a whole new unit.

Out of "F&P, LG or Bosch" - I'd only consider a high-end Bosch. But still, I'd go Beko again over Bosch. Bang for buck and good support etc.
Beko is (if I'm not mistaken) the biggest washer seller in Europe. So should have any issues with the brand rep. Again, do your research, as it can also depend on the model. Just like most brands and products…

        • Great thanks!

          • @DealioMcBargain: Beko is also very big in the UK. Budget brand but it lasts the distance. Think I had a 5kg front loader in a rental with 3x 20 somethings and lasted for 5 years only cost like $400.
