Large Bin Capacity Robot Vacuum That Can Be Used without Wi-Fi or a Hotspot

So I'm looking for some robot vacuums to use for work so something with a really large bin capacity as they will be doing huge floors.

I also need them to be able to function fully without the need to connect to wifi, Bluetooth or hotspot.

I thought about using my mobile as the hotspot so they can do wifi mapping or whatever it's called but then realised I need to be moving around a lot to other parts of the work site and I like to keep my mobile on me so my Bluetooth headphones can play music.

So I'm definitely looking for a robot vacuum that can basically operate without the need to connect to anything.

Not sure if this exists or if it even comes with the ability to return to base or empty its bin at base.

Will probably buy about 3-5 of these and keep them hidden at work so no one steals them.

This would mean my vacuum duties will become much easier so I don't mind spending a little bit but as always ozbargain rules apply and cheaper is better but quality is important here otherwise I'll still have to do some heavy vacuuming.

The wifi is just so you can operate it remotely, xiaomi/roborock machines do all their mapping on board. Just hit the start button and come back when it’s done.

We vacuumed our rental property with this method, just set it off one night and picked it up the next day.

    • Oh great fantastic.

Do you know if it would be able to do an entire office floor and navigate back to recharge its batteries without any wifi or network connection required?

Additionally which Xiaomi vacuum do you recommend maybe for large areas?

      • I’d recommend a 1st gen xiaomi if you can find it purely due to the charging speed. I’ve had one as well as a viomi v3 and currently a Roborock s7 and they take hours to charge!

  • I think anything with LIDAR mapping will be fine… but;

My Roborock S50 takes 81 minutes to clean our house of 75 square metres, roughly 40:60 Carpet:Hard Floors (and the bin is full every time unless I vacuum daily).
If we have a lot of stuff on the floor that it has to slow down to navigate around, then it can require a recharge before completing the whole house. It does this automatically with around 20% indicated battery capacity remaining. AFAIK, there is no way to force it to continue cleaning past 20% battery, even if there's only a few seconds/minutes remaining.
Recharging takes a good hour or so, before it reaches 80% capacity and recommences cleaning at the location it left off.
For an office, that may be an issue for you, I guess it depends how much time you have.

Dustbin capacity can be solved by the newer versions that have self emptying features (but they're pricey).

Initial mapping is a little slower (and more battery consuming) I think, so you'd want to be placing your dock in the same location after the initial mapping is completed.

Having WiFi will definitely help if they get clogged/stuck on something though!
How do you plan to know that they're stuck and need help and then where to find them if they can't let you know where they are?

  • could look into the robots that have the auto empty station… will vacuum until full, return to the station to empty then keep going. same with the battery… it will vacuum until its battery is low, return to recharge and then continue from that same point.

    • This is exactly what I'm looking for.

Just not sure which vacuums does it and such is considered the best

      • Well from comments above Roborock sounds like a good place to start. i did by a Ecovacs T9+ which has that functionality (and works great) however im not sure if it works without the WiFi Map…

        good luck! :)
