Geez that's a lot of marketing BS about sustainability for a company that is selling rebadged copies of designs from more prominent outdoor gear brands, that they're sourcing from Chinese factories.

    • Out of curiosity, how did you find out which products are rebadged? Curious if there's a way to spot this stuff easily

Edit: I can see that they mention their materials / factories are in China.

Their fireplace is the first thing that caught my attention…

The original from Snow Peak ~$407
        Zorali's clone $249.94
        Darche's clone $147.90

The clothing designs are also just well known designs from North Face/Patagonia mostly. I mean it's not like there aren't hundreds of companies doing the same thing but they're doing it for cheaper and without all the greenwashing. Some sustainability tick of approval they're getting from their Chinese factory doesn't mean much for me, neither do the couple of photos they have from when they did their initial factory inspection.

Interesting. I know the owner personally, so it's interesting to see the perspective of someone who isn't on the inside & hype for them.

          • @softwhite: Going through their site it just seems like they're using hipster design aesthetic and feel-good sustainability marketing to sell us more crap from China, rubs me the wrong way.

If they were designing and testing their own clothes and manufacturing in Australia I'd be more inclined to buy into the marketing. In an effort to be sustainable I try to only buy 'BIFL' products which usually excludes stuff made in China.

@Cheaplikethebird: That's fair. BIFL is life - feels like more people are leaning towards this approach as well.

I do hope there is a movement large enough to bring back manufacturing and quality to local made products, but at the same time the temptation can be too large for low cost for the masses. We'll see.
