Sander Recommendation for Window/Door Frame

I am thinking to buy sander to renew my wooden door and window frame. I am looking at cordless sander with battery.

Few questions:

If I need to buy only 1 sander, is it the best to buy detail sander for my use? (the one with triangular pad)?

Is it very important to have vacuum extraction attached? Will it be very dusty?

Can I use multitool (which has sanderfunctionality) for my work? Is there any drawback?

Appreciate any input. Thanks

With the task complete after a single window and door, and assuming that you are sanding the items for surface coat preparation; all you need is some sandpaper and/or a sanding sponge.

  • Get an Ozito detail sander if you really want to do it with a power tool - It does have a little extraction pod in it, although to use it you need to use one of the smaller ozito batteries.

  • Double check for asbestos before you start power sanding stuff.

  • Why cordless? Unless you plan to purchase other cordless tools to go with the same battery you’d be better to get a cheaper 240v sander.

Multitool isn’t as good as a dedicated sander, especially for larger areas. Not bad for detail work though.

Triangle shaped will give better access to corners.

Cheap tool with Good sandpaper is a better investment than an expensive sander wth cheap paper.

dust extraction is probably near useless for a door. The hose will get in your way and they don’t catch all dust anyway.
