How old is your V8? They sent me a free replacement battery after about 16 months when mine died.
Nearly 5 years.
Reasonable to buy new replacement battery out of pocket, do you think so?$109 for another 5 years? Very reasonable. I'd recommend getting a new filter as well

i ordered a third party battery from ebay for a hand held dyson
all specs and claims seemed legit
it was def the correct model no. and fitting and looked the part but it didn't work
it would turn on for mere seconds and then 'die'
company refunded my money [after offering an exchange] but i ended up buying a real dyson batteryi did manage [with dyson] to negotiate a better price slightly
i was ordering a couple spare parts for another vacuum and i got one part for free [i.e paid for two components inc battery, third spare part free]
so it is worth ringing and asking - you might find someone willing to negotiatenb: this was my third battery
second battery was replaced for free by dyson just outside my warranty window
but this was another couple years later again and second battery died as wellMaster instrument…. :)
Dyson online is the only way to be sure its genuine…. everything online are just knock offs regardless what they claim……
