Samsung Care+ - Any Experience on The Program?

Has anyone purchased, used and had any experience with the Samsung Care+ program?

  • Yep, log it online, then they call you. They send the new one and you have a couple of weeks to ship the old one.

New phone arrives in 1-2 days most times.

    • Do they give you a brand new sealed phone?

      • Doesnt come in a standard box, but its wrapped like new. So it's either a refurbished that appears brand new or brand new.

Prior to my current phone I had optus insurance and they also appeared brand new.

In saying that I usually break my phones within a couple of weeks of launch so they probably don't have any refurbished ones to send me.

        • I usually break my phones within a couple of weeks

          Ever tried using protection?

          • @Kangal: I start off with a slimline cover, break it, upgrade to a heavy duty cover, break it, then put on a screen protector and that gets me through the 2 years, upgrade, rinse and repeat.

            I suck with phones.

          • @Kangal: Ansell is usually better than Durex IMO…
But the little tablet is much much much better.. How do I say, more comfortable.. lol

Wait - sorry, phone protection. Yes, Soluble should prob think about a phone case. :)

            • @mickyb80: Ribbed for Siri's pleasure?

              • @Kangal: hahaha - f@rk Siri! Turn it inside out… Nothing pleasurable about using Apple products! lol…
I'd prefer Zero's if one has to use anything at all! Think thats whats happened to Samsung in the past months - they may not have seen the others such as Oppo and Xiaomi coming… (pardon the pun on that last one, despite spelling).

                • @mickyb80: .
                  Most phones sold:
1 - BBK (OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, iQO)
                  2 - Xiaomi (Xioami, Redmi)
                  3 - Huawei (Huawei, Honor)
                  4 - Samsung
                  5 - Apple
                  6 - Everyone else

                  Most profits made:
                  1 - Apple (80%)
                  2 - Google (10%)
                  3 - Samsung (5%)
                  4 - Everyone else (5%)

…the best position is Apple, doesn't have to concern themselves with "market share" and simply rakes in the moolah. Much worse would be in the position of Xiaomi or its two brothers, where they make the lion's share of the market share, yet they actually only realise a small fraction of the profits. You could say it's a difference of ideology, ergo, Capitalism vs Communism. Though I think having both in competition keeps it healthy for all consumers.

                  • @Kangal: Agree. I suspect a lot of the 'race to the top' that we see nowadays is not so much about profits though, rather ranking in numbers (of whatever products/services) are on offer, therefore market share.

Just need to look at all the companies that now release annual numbers around EBITDA yet GP is in the red. Let's not go there though, as that's a whole other discussion. (Yes, know the importance of EBITDA too… ) 🤑

The old saying of 'market share v profits and the race to the bottom'… What a world we live in…

    • Cheers. That's what I thought. Was just wondering if it's really worth it when considering the $350 for the initial and $150 per claim (capped to 2 claims).

Have screen protection with my CC (never used, just paid out of pocket and forget about the CC offer each time).

    • If you don't mind me asking, which phone did you swap? What was the quoted amount for non-return fee?

      Thanks!
