Parking near a Roundabout?

Would anyone know the rules in regard to parking near suburban roundabouts? Is there a defined distance from an exit you must leave? I can't find anything with "roundabout" so perhaps it's hidden within another definition..

Common sense would suggest "Don't do it" But it's an interesting topic.

A roundabout is an intersection, but with the advantage of having space to park right in the middle.

      Parking near intersections

You must not stop or park within 20 metres of a signalised intersection or 10 metres from a non-signalised intersection, unless otherwise signed.

At a T-intersection, you can park along the continuous road, unless otherwise signed or indicated.

If vehicles are regularly parking too close to the intersection, contact Council to request enforcement.

      • Thanks, wasn't completely sure roundabouts are synonymous with intersections or had their own rule.

What did you learn about parking near roundabouts before you got your licence?

    The answer hasn't changed.

    As per your link:
    https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/fines/parking
You may receive a fine if you commit one of the following offences
Park or stop within 10m of any intersection without traffic lights unless… … .. .

      Brilliant. Thanks for looking.

Even if there weren't any rules regarding how far to park, you'd be silly to park close to it, if you car about your car.

  • sigh, surrender your licence.

park closer and closer until u get fined
    that's the spot

  • Wow annoying is the people who park right at the corner of streets and intersections, the general rule is to be at least 20m from any kind of intersection but also to be safe from idiots who take the corners too quick or cut corners or lose control.

    • It’s 10m at non-signalised intersections

      • I feel the further away the better, can never be too safe

You can feel what you want, but the rules are there.

@Euphemistic: Yes but 20m is even better as it's more than 10

            • @Willco88: 40km is better than 20m because it’s more? Parking in your driveway is better than on the road.

The rule is 10m. what you do above that is your choice.
