Best TV A/V for a Big (Echoey) Lounge

I have my TV in the lounge which has high (5-6m) ceilings and tiled floor.

This makes it hard to hear the TV (w. simple Sony soundbar / sub-woofer).

Are there any specific A/V solutions that could give an improved experience? Or at least hear what is being said without having to turn the volume right up.

This is not a technology problem, Soft furnishings are the answer.
Get a rug and some curtains.

Best technology solution would be Wireless Headphones.

    • Also, maybe some of those free-standing divider things like they have in offices. Try Chris Huff. Very good audio man for churches etc very helpful on audio problems. https://www.behindthemixer.com/

  • Get a rug. Put up some large canvas pictures. Add furniture. Window coverings.

Have you tried moving closer to the TV?

Your room sucks for a lounge. Goal is to reduce the echo.

SPECIFIC solutions will require some AV pro to visit your house, take measurements, maybe do the above and add foam panelling, and then suggest the best speaker set up and placement and tuning for the space. = $$$

  • Cheapest OzBargain solution - TURN THE VOLUME RIGHT UP.

  • Upgrade gear to more gear, turn it up! lol…
Len Wallis audio will help you out, as I see you are in Sydney. Just need to wait for the lockdown to be over I guess.

Lots of soft accessories in the room, cushions, carpets etc.

Try to check the angles of your speakers etc.
It sounds like the problem you are having is caused by sound deflection.
