Any Good 10TB and above External HDD Drive Deals at The Moment?

I'm after a media drive for Plex on my Nvidia Shield Pro and the deals I see were 10tB and above for around $250 ish.

Any good deals on 10Tb - 14Tb that anybody knows about?

Cheers all :-)

  • Chia mining has made them more expensive.

Best bet at the moment is amazon but that's $320 + shipping for a 10TB.

    • Yep I saw that however the 10TB drive sounds quite unreliable and noisy. I have a 10TB WD Elements drive and it's very good. I was hoping to pick up another.

    Nada thanks to Chia farming.

Hopefully now that Chia is basically unprofitable we'll see more drives back in surplus soon, but might be several months or more before we return to $25/Tb.

  • Dammit….There is a Seagate 10TB on amazon for $329 but the reviews sound like the 10TB is crap.

    • Nah, I've got the 10TB and it's good. Have to be careful with reviews on amazon as they group together the other products ie 1tb, 2tb, 4tb and 8tb. These are mostly SMR drives too

      • The 10TB wouldn't be SMR, though, right?

        • 10TB and above are CMR for now for both Seagate and WD. I haven't looked too much into the 18 and 20TB drives yet so things might have changed.

    • Thanks,

      Seems a hassle and a bit risky…..

If you don't need it in a hurry maybe this Seagate 14TB Expansion Desktop https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B093BVQYYM for $301.78 (+delivery) (sold by Amazon UK)
BUT note the discrepancy on the page: 14TB in the title and in the page in one place, 6TB elsewhere in the page, and it's not in stock but will let you place the order.
EDIT: too slow to post, the post above mine is exactly that!

Currently look at this in conjunction with Camel camel camel alerts on certain stock on amazon

    • Cheers,

      I've never seen this before…..

  • Still no deals?

  • $314 here

    • Sold out already and that's more than I paid for 12TB a year ago. I'm also scared of the 10TB model, lots of complaints about noise etc
