Solid product, I have 3 and the lowest price I paid was $16 on ebay in 2019.

  • +2

I paid $42 for my last two cause I really needed them. Just got another one for a total of 7.

    • I originally had one ordered at Amazon for $37 since Monday but they still hadn't sent it out so went looking around and ended up cancelling the Amazon order.

I really should order another 2 though, all the lights on my current surge protectors are out and I'm pretty sure the manual states that once the lights go out the board needs to be replaced.

    Thanks OP.

I've had my 8 socket Belkin for a few years. After constant plugging and unplugging, some sockets don't hold firm. Plus the sockets are not flush, which was annoying for some adapters.

Thanks again to "Shard" for posting this deal 7 months ago- I got 2 of these for $29.50- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/594647

  • Great product. Sell to client and use myself in office. +1 Just bought 5. Thanks OP!

I had issues with mine, mainly some of the sockets are a bit loose and you can hear electrical sparks when plugged in. QA could be an issue, YMMV

    • +3

You gotta press it real hard then it locks in.

      • Mi2 thanks for the advice, but some of the sockets I can hear that electrical buzz after locking it in. I've only got 2 things plugged into mine, don't trust half the sockets.

        • +1

It's weird. Cause mine doesn't make any noise, even if I listen closely.
Could be a faulty unit if it makes that noise no matter what you plug in.
Edit: Actually I can hear some noise but you have get really really close to hear it, like 10cm.
From a 50cm distance I hear absolutely nothing. So I think it's normal.

          • @Mi2: I've got one of these and there is a slight gap (2mm) between the socket and board and I've been shoving them in real hard.
Is it normal or am I just a little weak?

            • @ElevenoutofTen: Depends on the plug.
No gap for my charger, but a slight gap for my TV plug, no matter how hard you press.
Guess has something to do with the size. Some AU plugs are just a bit wider than usual.

  • cable length ?

    • +1

      2 metres

  • thanks!

  • Cheers, got 2

  • Is this over the top for a home office (just computer, modems, printer)? Something cheaper needed maybe

    • +1

Looks perfect for a home office.

It would be hard to find something like that but cheaper.

  • OOS while checking out….

  • Thank you, just bought 2 :)

  • OOS too…

  • Sold out in store and online :(

  • Have one - was about to buy two more. Sold out

Still no individual power on/off switch for each plug, what are we in year 2000?

    • +2

Wish we were… The life was normal back then.

      • +3

        And the winner is…………… SYDNEYYYY!!!!!!

        • +1

          The opposite in 2021!

    • I can seem to only find a 4 socket with individual power switches, like the crest. I too can't believe that you can't find any 8 socket with individual switches. It's a joke.

    • This is a pain particularly with the the LEDs on the board being bright in a dark room. It’s only really an issue for me as my home office is next to the bed. Happy with mine otherwise.

  • Shhhhh I needed one

    • me to :(

      • available for pre-order now

  • I have 2 of these and they're good, I just wish they had 90° wall plugs :/

  • Ah missed out. Does anyone have any other recommendation for a decent powerboard with surge protection?

  • Woo,i need 1

  • +1

    Back but in Pre-order

    • +1

Any ideas on the ETA for delivery? Cheers.

      • would like to know as well

  • Thanks OP

  • Are those USB ports suitable for a raspberry pi?

    • +1

2.4A would be on the low side for a 3B+ and not enough for a pi4

  • How would you mount this under a table?

    • -2

      Superglue

    • +2

I would get those 3M double-sided mount tape.

      • That or Velcro.

  • I pre-ordered so hopefully doesn't take too long??

  • An electrician told me it's bad to have more than 4 sockets coming out of the single wall socket - is this true?

    • +1

Not sure if bad but I've got 2x8 powerboards out of 1 wall socket.

    • +1

No unless you've got high amp devices, dryer, etc.. it'll trip the board if it overloads anyhow

    • +1

It's not the number of sockets, it's the load you are drawing. Plus every house is different, your powerpoint might be on a circuit with only one other powerpoint in your house and i may have 4 powerpoints on that circuit with a fridges etc running.

    • I doubt it, modern appliances are pretty efficient.

I think I have in the realm of 12-13 items running off one double outlet in my home office at the moment, which is perfectly safe because most of them are very low wattage devices (LED desk lamps, various chargers, etc) and a few "medium" wattage devices (PC, printer, laptop charger, etc). The joys of living in an old unit block which has 1 double outlet per room.

Considering you get 2400W per single wall socket there's not really much risk as long as you're not using any high wattage devices. Even my split system air conditioner in that room (on a seperate circuit, just to be safe) only draws about 580W average so in theory I could run that as well and still have some leeway.

      • Just need to watch out for power-on spikes - like if you have a PC on and you turn the printer on, the breaker can sometimes nuisance trip. Kinda rare these days though.

    • +1

      Same here, charging $9.90 shipping.

    • no longer a deal since there is no free delivery. 2 for $60 on eBay plus and delivered is cheaper.

  • Still showing free delivery for me. Thanks Op got one

  • Price has gone up to $29.

  • Still don't understand why every near perfect powerboards has no individual switched.

Do people oil the PowerPoints out regardless? Is it safe to plug and unplug?, Or do you shut off power to the whole device just to unplug one socket?

  • +1

Got this for $19 last month from Ebay deal & works great

  • my preorder got delivered today, didnt know couriers deliver on weekends
