Great game. The physics engine is so real.

    • I know right! It's so real I frequently fall through the "table" ha!

  • +2

I got to the point where I could reliably play against easy bots but then went online and got axed, hard.

    • Yeah, takes a while to get used to real people and their unpredictability! Also good to look out for lower ping game / matchups so you don't get lag affecting the game!

  • Really wanted this but was waiting on a sale.

    Thanks OP

    • yep great to get 35% off :) Never goes to these prices on the Oculus store!

      • +1

how do you get these prices?

        • +5

We partner with the devs / game studios to set up some awesome deals for our customers! :)

  • +1

actually a very good game. can recommend

    • Totally agree :)

  • This is my favourite VR game to play on my Quest 2.

Feels so damn real, does not get closer to the real thing then actually playing real ping pong.

    • +2

ha 100%! The amount of times I forget, go for a massive slam and then fall through the "table" and onto the ground is ridiculous!

  • Do you need to buy be equipment to play this?

    • +1

You can use the standard Quest 2 controllers :)

      • Can you please send me link to your hardware product? I am getting the impression you can play table tennis virtually with an ai, so does it give athlete another way to train? I am interested to buy if this is the case. Btw, playing for recreational purpose. Any video link to see how real this virtual reality is? please advise the total cost to get all the required equipment to play table tennis.

        • +3

Oh my bad - I misunderstood your question!

You'll need to get an Oculus Quest 2 - https://www.oculus.com/quest-2/

This can be bought from either Oculus themselves, or on Amazon Au (faster delivery!). They are currently "out of stock" as they are going through a refresh and the base model will be 128GB instead of 64G, for the same price. It should be back on sale from 24th August.

Once you have the console - yes you can definitely play table tennis with AI or other real people in virtual reality! here is a YouTube walkthrough

          • @OculiumVR: Thanks, so how much is the hardware? The website shows 79 or 209? Are they AUD? I assumed oculus is a us company.

            • +1

@htc: Yep Oculus is a US company, owned by Facebook. Once it's back in stock the 128GB version should be $479. You may see them on sale via third parties on ebay and amazon, but I would highly recommend against buying from them - they are charging inflated prices and shouldn't be supported!

          • -1

@OculiumVR: Also does your sale end next week, ending before your hardware is available, I should buy the key before the sale end. How long does it take to ship the equipment? 128 GB and 256 GB, how big is the table tennis game, can the game be stored on another harddrive?

            • +5

@htc: Oh no we don't sell the hardware! We sell accessories for the hardware and selected VR games - the latter we are in the process of expanding on :)

When you do get your Oculus Quest 2 - feel free to drop me a PM, happy to extend the discount to you even if its past the sale date :)

              • @OculiumVR: Been waiting for the revised version of the hardware

                • +1

@Squeezy: It's such a long wait too right! Especially when you're looking forward to it so much (and feels double long if you are also in lockdown too!?)

                  • @OculiumVR: Ive got my Quest 2 now. if you manage to get some more keys for this would be keen to grab one

                    • @Squeezy: Shoot us a PM :)

                      • @OculiumVR: Sorry… Ended up just buying it last night from Oculus Store pricing there had dropped to $27.28

              • +3

@OculiumVR: Rep: you have the patience of a saint. Have an upvote on the house.

                • +2

                  @CharcoaI: haha thanks!

Always happy to spread the word :)

                  • +1

@OculiumVR: Rep, which leg do I insert first when putting on jeans?

                    • +2

@illz: I try and jump into both legs at the same time! Gym done for the day :)

                      • @OculiumVR: Haha

Do I need pants to play your game?

                        I'll stop now, I promise..

                • -2

@CharcoaI: That's why I like asking rep the questions. It also shows we should do more business with op. I wouldn't be prepared to engage a salesman or saleswoman who say, go and read a textbook or watch youtube before coming to my store. I am certain if the owner witness the salesperson who say that to customers, the salesperson's days will certainly be numbered. Salesperson who have great customer skills will get more business in the end.

              • @OculiumVR: Great, thanks I will be in touch. I never owned ps or xbox or wii. I know in wii you can play sport but I still find it artificial. I do play games on computer or phone before. But playing a game like table tennis in a vr is a new experience and attracted my attention. Thanks for the post, I am not really aware of this vr thing is now available for everyday consumers. BTW I just watched Mr. bean 2018 movie a few days ago on tv, there was a funny scene involving VR. I have been buying bargains for the last few weeks thought I have bought almost everything I need but now I read this. I will be doing some market research on where to buy the hardware. I just finished watching some videos on youtube, Oculus Quest 2 is the best bang for bucks at the moment.

                • @htc: Yep - VR is definitely nearly at every day levels now!
No worries! Feel free to reach out / PM when you jump onboard and check out our accessories too :).

And I don't think you can ever run out of bargains on Ozbargain hah!

            • +1

@htc: This guy probably asks the gas station attendant how long it'll take them to fill his car and drive him home.

        • Lmao

Rep, you've done an amazing job answering all the questions.

          HTC, Maybe try Google/YouTube dude.

    • +2

You're essentially asking if you need a game console, to play a console game.

      Yes, you do.

The console is the 'Oculus Quest 2' which the rep linked. It is a headmounted VR machine with two controllers. You'll also need to link your Facebook account to it, for it to work too.

If you struggle with any of these basic concepts… Then entering the world of VR might not be for you.

Accidentally paid full price and contacted them for a refund. Took only 2 minutes for them to put it back into my bank account. 10/10 huge

    • +1

No problem at all :) Always here to help - happy ping pong-ing!

  • Are you going to do another sale for other vr games soon? I missed the deal on audiotrip last time

    • Send me a PM :)

  • Looking forward to buying an Oculus Quest 2 when it's back on sale. I have heard great reviews about this game

    • +1

Just under two weeks to go! Feels longer when you're waiting!!

  • +1

When you want to go more VR TT hardcore and have access to a 3d printer (hopefully a recent ender or voxel purchase)

    • 100% would recommend this version!

  • +1

Really, really good game - I used to play ping pong with my dad and about 5 minutes into the game, I was 100% muscle memory playing. Everything worked: spin/curve on the ball, bounces were accurate, felt like playing the real thing. Have never played a VR game this close to “real” before, there’s always a glitch, stutter, movement feels 90% real but not quite 100% etc. Even Alyx (also phenomenal).

Support was excellent too - buying with ApplePay was literally a double click; I’d forgotten to apply the coupon and they sorted it out very fast.

    • Yeah right? Amazing how real it feels!

No worries at all! We've all been in that situation at least once before! Click through super faster to get the deal! And forgot the coupon :)
