Reinstalling SSD, Will HDD Files and Documents Be Gone?

Hey,

Sorry if this is a silly question but any help will be awesome and appreciated.

I'm replacing my 128gb M.2 SSD boot drive with another 1tb M.2 SSD on my laptop.
My laptop already has a 1tb HDD installed (2.5") - as a secondary drive.

Since I'm only replacing my boot drive, will files and documents in my secondary drive (HDD) be gone?
It seems like common sense that items in my secondary drive would be untouched but since I'm completely booting from a new SSD I'm afraid that it might remove documents or cause issues in my secondary drive.

Thank you in advance :D

As long as the second drive isn't encrypted then you should see the files in the secondary drive straight off the bat no problems.

    • Thank you :) are HDDs being encrypted the default or the other way round?

      • Search for bitlocker in the win 10 search box and it'll tell you if it's enabled but it's unlikely.

As above, only if it’s encrypted. Also won’t be an issue if you need to go back to the original drive if stuff is missing.
