    PS5 compatible?

    • You need a heatsink. Also, beta firmware isn't available in Australia.
It is one of the compatible SSDs.

      • Great thank U

I'll grab a heatsink off eBay

        • You know the dimension restriction right? If not, better google before buying the heat sink.

            @netsurfer: 💯

Will do. Learnt from the last time when I bought 2600 MHz ram instead of 3200 to always triple check lol

            • @agalea101: Let us know what you buy re heatsink and any paste etc!

  • OOS?

When adding to cart it says "$NaN"

    • Not a number. Does that mean it's free?

I might be living under a rock… what is Klarna? can i just pay it off all at once?

    • It splits the payment into 4 equal instalments, you can always pay it off all at once (like almost all buy now pay later services).

    • Klarna is like Afterpay. Same sort of thing buy now pay later. Pay it off over 4 fortnightly repayments.

It's one of the buy now pay later payment methods supported by Kogan.

      • Arent there enough kids in debt up to their ears these days with all these payday schemes?

        • to me they seem just like a credit card but with extra steps.

    • Karma with a big L if you don’t pay in time

  • Damn, bought a 1tb WD SN850 drive yesterday for $245, would have got this otherwise.

Deadset, these "pay for things you can't afford" services are right up there with Sports Betting for me.
Just (profanity) off and stop existing.

    • +1

These services are good because they have great offers that can save you a lot of money, you can always pay it off in full and also take advantage of the offer as well

      • They are basically burning shareholder money to get market share. How long are they willing to do that? Also, do we need to sign up for every single one of those BNPL providers?

      • +2

I'd rather just not have my data collected by the equivalent of online Cash Converters and pay with money I have, as opposed to burning credit score and using unnecessary bullshit.

    • +1

I don't know but I like Afterpay lol. Klarna does credit check that's why I am not onto it.

  • So this is or isn't a grey import?
Does it come with a warranty?

    • +1

Should be AU since Harris Technology is Australian AFAIK

When's the 990 pro coming out?

    • +1

When you start hearing about the 1080 pro

    • If Intel Alder Lake supports PCIe gen 5 on the CPU, then we are looking at potentially end of this year (actually available to public early next year). Problem is, it is really an overkill for most people. Also, is Intel REALLY going to be ready in time. Intel's track record on their 10nm is shockingly bad.

When you really look at it, Series X and PS5' internal SSDs are both DRAMless. PS5's is not quite PCIe gen 4, but it has more priority levels. Series X's is merely PCIe gen 3 x4 (or if you like: PCIe gen 4 x2) - the actual SSD by SD is actually SN530 equivalent.

The big discount makes this quite attractive so that people would be quite tempted to go for it. Lack of true next gen titles make people think 1TB is enough (for now).

In case you are wondering about heatsinks in PS5, I've bought one each of available heatsinks from PCCG and found the following:

    • Silverstone heatsink didn't fit at all.
    • Thermal grizzly fits with no issue
    • EKWB also fits with no issue.

By the looks of it, Be Quiet heatsinks that are coming soon will also fit.

They all come with all required thermal pads. All of them are clip on types, not screw types.

    • Not sure what happened with my post!

Amazon uk have Be Quiet reviews showing pics of the heatsinks fitting, text is all in German though lol.

  • Regarding heatsink for PS5, all you need to do is google:

    110 x 25 x 11.25 millimetres (with heatsink)

Generally, it is the width and height that's the issue (so 25mm and 11.25mm). If you want cheapest and don't mind waiting, try AliExpress. If you want one right away, then try one of the retailers, Amazon or feeBay (local seller).

  • What about the 980 non-pro for $142?

I get that it's slower and no heatsink. But who cares (unless it needs a heatsink to stop throttling)?

    • For PS5 ? Not compatible as 980 is PCIE 3.0

      • Nah, for PC

        • Would recommend to go for SN850 or 980 Pro since it's only $20 more.
For the 1TB model, 980 is good enough

  • What was the original price before klarna discount?

  • Jw has it up for 295? Still similar % off?
