[Switch] Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate $31.98 @ Nintendo eShop

110

Not as cheap as previous deals (by around $6 or so) but this is the first time it's gone on sale all year.

Huge amount of content, strongly recommend if you haven't picked it up yet, especially if you started with MH Rise and enjoyed that (it's an older game though so it does play slightly differently).

  • Is this even worth it now that Rise is out? btw Rise is a banger of a game.

      I'd say so, yes.

I loved Rise but personally found the endgame pretty lacking.

Gen Ultimate has the largest monster roster (as this was an anniversary title), and I've got a soft spot for the old-world playstyle.

Both great games, both worth playing imo.

Definitely expecting to sunk in 200 hrs minimum. It was damn hard and not user friendly game but it gives the great sense of achievement when you finish the game

MHGU is the last of the "old style" Monster Hunter game and very different to World and Rise. I started on GU and went to Rise and will never go back. IMO the mechanics and pace of the old style is too clunky and crippling slow.

MHGU probably has the most amount of content of any of the handheld titles as it was a celebration of all the "generations" of MH that came before. The roster of monsters is very large and there's enough endgame content for I'd say a good 400+ hours (and that's if you already have experience with the franchise - expect to play a lot more if you're new). Granted as some people say below, it is "harder" than World and Rise because it lacks the quality of life features the newer games have. The player base is divided: newer players will find World and Rise a friendlier introduction to the series, but veterans of the series will find the amount of content of World and Rise (and the "difficulty") quite limited. If you ever get tired of World and Rise or you want more content and want to fight a much larger roster of monsters, then this price is definitely worth it.

Generations Ultimate is fantastic if you're done with Rise, World or even are simply interested in what the roots of Monster Hunter was like during the PSP days. Highly recommended. Not as easy as Rise but it's still brilliant.
