Apple TV 4K 32GB (2021) $229 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Umart

550

UMart in QLD/NSW/SA have the Apple TV 32Gb 2021 version for $229. I managed to get it price beat at Officeworks for $217.55 making it the cheapest price in Australia for this newest model. Good luck!

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2021.

  • Is it worth upgrading from ATV 4K?

    • Not really imo. If you'd change anything, I'd recommend getting the new remote separately as the old one always felt a bit cheap and flimsy, but that's up to you.

      • +1

Second this re remote. The old one fell on my tile floor and the trackpad just cracked. Ordered the new remote and works like a charm.

You'll need to update the ATV firmware to use the remote.

        • +4

This doesn’t make sense tbh. $75 for the remote. You rather sell the old one for $150(fb market price) and pay another $79 for this. We are talking about $4( when compared with buying a $75 remote) for a upgrade from 2017 tech to 2021 tech. It probably won’t get renewed till 2024.

      • I tried the new remote and returned it. Found it too bulky, and the circle-scrub took way too long for me to figure out how to operate. And I kept pressing the mute button when trying to play/pause due to old muscle memory. Bah.

I upgraded mine 32GB 4K to the 64GB ATV2. Did it for the aerial wallpapers, 32GB just couldn’t store many unfortunately. It’s definitely snappier given original 4K was 4 years old notice it a lot during loading(clicking in and out of different Netflix/prime shows. Other than that not much difference.

Having said that I sold mine old 32GB one for $150 and got the 64GB for $250. $100 upgrade to last another 3-4 years? No brainer IMO

  • My Sony TV supports AirPlay natively, but I find when some sites doesnt support AirPlay so I use screen mirroring (mac and ipad), the streaming quality is horrible, super laggy, next to unusable. Will a hardware Apple TV solve this issue? Will sreen mirroring quality improve drastically?

    • If your plan is to screen mirror videos from a website it will never work well. Screen mirroring just isn’t designed for past moving content like videos.

  • This or the Mi box

    • +1

I have 2 Mi box's, they are pretty solid but If I were buying today, l'd get a Google tv Chromecast dongle. If you're a tweaker this, what I expect to be a closed system device, is probably not for you, unless I am mistaken and there is a way to sideload content on this device. I never owned one to find out.
Although if you are strongly in the Apple ecosystem then you probably want something like this.

      • +5

I disagree! I have a Mi Box, a Chromecast with Google TV, and 2 ATVs.
The Apple TV is noticeably faster and more reliable. Every streaming app is available almost immediately, while I’ve had to side load apps like Prime Video onto Google devices due to exclusive deals.
The Apple TV has gigabit ethernet, so streaming is much more reliable. I use a Ugreen adapter on my Mi Box and a USB C hub on the Chromecast, but it’s a lot slower.
The ability to automatically account for TV colour differences using an iPhone on the Apple TV makes images much more realistic (though benefit is lost with Dolby Vision on ATV or Chromecast, and doesn’t work with projectors).
The remote is also (subjectively) better - definitely much higher quality. The UI is much more polished and has no ads, and software updates are much more frequent and substantial.
The main downside for me (and why I also have a Chromecast) is that you can’t run VPN apps on the ATV. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend this over any other box.

        • Bare in mind that this price is more inline with a Nividia Shield for fair comparison, so expecting the same level of performance and polish from the mi box or Google dongle is unfair. Otherwise, it's good to hear the thoughts of someone who has so many devices. I wonder how this compares to the Shield, probably time for some research, my Mi box's are aging.

Not sure you can installs any of the apps I use to stream on the Mibox on to this device, they aren't in its store so that would be a big limitation for me.

    • I can vouch for one of the comments above, I own Mi box for quite some time now and finally pull the trigger and try AppleTV 4K! Oh boi! it is night and day for me, smooth and the interface is clean, I love it.
But time will tell whether apple tv will slows down like the Mi Box. Although from my experience, most of my android devices will slows down after a year or two after usage, but apple products still going strong.

  • Thank you, I will be price matching with OW tomorrow

    • how? are stores not closed?

      • They match over the phone

      • and they are open in NSW

  • I get this for the AirPod support and atom surround

    • Can you clarify airpod support? Also atom surround that’s if the TV or speaker supports it ?

      • He is probably buying his first ATV or upgrading from a non 4K ATV that doesn’t support Atmos

      • When u watch movies in Disney plus and atv+ and using AirPod, you get the spatial audio. Been using it on iPad and it’s so good, and now that they bringing it To atv I think it’s worth the upgrade from chrome cast.

        • Wait so you use AirPod to watch Tv at home?!

          • @sauce2k: Yes you can use airpods to watch TV, much like you can with an iphone. Good for late night movies without disturbing others. I really like this feature.

    • That is the reason I bought the 2021 AppleTV 4K too!
Can be used with Airpods and support eARC HDMI as well as Dolby Atmos and Vision (if your tv or soundbar support them)

  • What do/can you do with an apple tv aside from the obvious?

    • +1

Has a good range of games on Apple Arcade if you want to connect your ps4 or Xbox controller

      • And Apple fitness

    • +2

What’s the obvious? I use mine mostly for the screen savers. Helps liven up the wall a bit.

    • Your 4k TV most likely doesn’t play 4k videos natively, so Apple TV allows you to watch 4k videos in 4k resolution.

    • +1

Infuse. Terrific media player that works across your Apple devices

      • Can you explain some benefits or differences to using Infuse vs the Plex app on Apple TV? I have a NAS media library that I view using Plex.

  • Fantastic price. Shame they don't have the 64gb in stock / on special :(

  • Costsco have these for $199 if people are members. Just an FYI.

    • +2

That's a different model - not 4K. Umart have them too, for $195.00.

      • +1

Oh damn, thanks for pointing that out! I had no idea they even had a non 4k model anymore.

    • Not 4K model.

  • Appreciate the deal OP. Officeworks price match with no issues.

  • Any benefit of the 64 vs 32?

    • +1

Only if you use it for games or if you download instead of stream video

      • By download, it’s either screensavers or games. - not movies/tv.
I asked the same Q before I bought mine, and went 32

  • why marked as expired? deal still current on umart website

  • Still not expired

  • 32GB model is out of stock now

    • it is in stock in some stores and available within 1-2 days in others.

But more importantly, the price is back to normal. DEAL OVER.

      Expire please.
