I did the mistake of buying a sofa from Amart, it not only turned out to be uncomfortable but also wore out quickly.
Claimed the damage in the warranty period and they offered either replacement or $500 store credit.
I need to buy a new sofa and dont want it from Amart, do you think If I buy something else for $500 and then return in back , they will pay the $500 or would they still keep it as store credit.

Cant find it on their website anymore, but it was 3+1+1, we sat on 1 seater recliner and found it fine.

nops I paid $1200 , was some discount going on. but they said since damage was on the 3 seater only so can credit $500 only.
@Ehty: That's the thing, the $500 credit offer for only the 3 seater means you will definitely pay much more for another model to replace the dud one AND you will then have a mismatched lounge suite.
Did they assess it as a 'serious defect'? How soon after purchase did the sofa fail?
@Ehty: They're obviously trying to push you towards a replacement by offering to pro-rata a store credit for the 3 seater only which is laughable.
Respond by pointing out that they missed including the 'full refund' option of their 'Quality Guarantee' to you.
Isn't Amart the company with the TV ad where they throw a Sofa out of an Aircraft?

What you should be doing is demanding a refund in the first place under ACL to the original payment method.

Went through this exact same thing with a couch from Amart. The frame of it fell apart after 2 years - clearly a major failure. Amart wanted to give us store credit, but after insisting to the manager that we get a refund under ACL, we got one.
Assert your consumer rights.
If you use store credit , they will do refund as store credit. I am wondering, Which sofa did you buy?
