Looking at evenutally purchasing a 48" oled and saw the cx is the 2020 model? usually they get pretty heavily discounted trying to get rid of old stock. I did see a post for $1,800. Is this the lowest we will see?

The demand for 48 inch CX is very high given that people who buy the 48 inch is likely to use it as a PC monitor replacement. Given that the 48C1's price is always just above $2k mark on sale, I would expect the 48CX to be just under $2k when on sale also. So it seems like $1800 is probably a good price already.
Being popular. I doubt wouldn’t bank on a discount but you never know.
