Long time follower first time poster.

Been on the lookout for a big sized TV for a while now and came across this bargain.

I know it the old stock but its perfect for what I was looking for. That is a big tv with a wide viewing angle ( the newer models viewing angle are not as good)

it works for me, I believe it's eBay plus only

  • The 43" model of this TV is reviewed as one of the premium panels for 4k "TV as a monitor" usage.

I don't know if the 85" is the same panel tech but I think the 43" is IPS with 4:4:4 colour stuff, to make text, not crap.

I'm not big on LCDs as a plasma guy, but if I had to consider one, this is definitely up there.

    • Hey plasma guy, 2014 called and……

Hahaha jk, only reason I no longer have a good plasma is cause I did a warranty claim on a Panasonic VT60 two years ago and received a nice OLED to replace it. I still have my Palsonic plasma in the back room, which I fired up yesterday and it's still pretty decent for colour and motion. Actually made me think about replacing it with a second hand Panasonic plasma but they aren't as cheap as I'd thought they would be.

  • Its a great TV at a great price and runs Android, unlike the other big brands

  • For a tv over 65" like this one you want the 9000 series up from Sony. Only that series and higher has FALD which is crucial for large screens. The issues from edge lit on the 8000 and 8500 is noticable on the 55" model in my experience and countless others so avoid this "deal" unless you don't care about backlight bleed, blooming, clouding etc 👍👍👍

    • What is FALD?

      • Full Array Local Dimming. Its the lighting technology and Sony does it better than other companies.

Don't waste your money on edge lit displays anymore when FALD based displays are so common place and are dropping in price thanks to development of better tech in the form of Micro/mini LED displays. Getting closer to OLED picture quality without the longevity issues of OLED.

        • I was going to get the 55" for $1180 but you're making me reconsider. It's only going to be used for Netflix, etc; no gaming or sports. Unfortunately can't find at X9000H in stock anymore.

For the 8500 HDR is still nice but not super bright like other HDR sets but even then that's when you can see noticable clouding in dark scenes.

The 9000 is the lowest model that starts to use Full Array Local Dimming which Sony do a better job at than most companies. Definitely try to find a reliable brand that has FALD as cheaper brands dont focus on the software side for effective implementation. Might as well not have it in some cases haha

Its hard to tell some of these things in store as they only use super bright colourful vistas in slow motion. The only TVs that really show off dark scenes in promotional material are OLED screens.
