    Very good price.

  • For those wondering, all Garmin GPS units are 25% over the weekend at Dick Smith.

    • So what is the chances this will be $45? :P

      • I'm pretty sure you're kidding but just in case, the normal price is $78, so $58.50 is post 25%

      • No it's already reduced afaik.

  • Just wondering. Can it be used outside of Australia?

Planning to go oversea and might buy it if it could.

    • Yes you can use it outside of Australia as long as you have a relevant map installed.
You can alsy buy garmin maps with reasonable price on eBay.
And if you find a place of your interest in GoogleMap, you can send that location to Garmin which stores it as Place of Interest (POI) then you can navigate it. Google it and you can find the way in detail.

Place to buy garmin (or probably other popular sat nav) - depends on where you go.
US - definatelly buy it there. Cheapest and biggest product range in the world.
UK - probably most expensive (due to VAT?)
Australia - some are overpriced but not as expensive as UK. If you worry about warranty and don't want to do any customise map installation etc, maybe it's best to buy it in Australia.

If you're thinking of taking this GPS overseas, Garmin charge an arm and a leg for offshore maps (won't be on the GPS you purchase here). I asked about Nth America, Sth America and Western Europe for the Nuvi and they were all more than $100 each! Google maps on Android using a local (OS) SIM + prepaid plan might be a better combined buy. For example, in the USA you can buy a prepaid package with a SIM with enough data GBs to use Google maps for a month for less than $100 (and off course more call airtime than you'll ever need) See http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans …. You don't have an android phone? Why not….?

  • This is a great price although I know nothing about GPS prices.

  • Is it 2012 model??

  • Anyone here bought one? I'm thinking of buying one tomorrow morning, does this have 2012 maps? This would be perfect for my Easter holiday road trip around QLD

    • For $58 and a well known brand it can't be wrong :)

Yeah, just picked one up this morning. You can get 1 free map update that is valid for 3 months after purchase. Quite happy with my purchase

        • Did you get a further 25% off?

        • Its 25% off already so its $58, saw the same one at JB-HiFi for $98 which is the standard price, that's the standard price for DS when the sale is over

        • Normal DS price for this is $78
