    Thanks OP. Great Find.

Bought a 6 Premium last month for $139.99 minus 25% cashback. and got another Metcon 7X today

    • No worries man. How’s the 7X? I’ve heard it’s just a little bit more stability than 7 which most people can’t tell.

      • just got 7X on your post.

        • The 7X is identical in every way to the 7, except for the Games colour scheme

  • Pretty good price.

Just bought the Metcon 6 for $70 from Nike DFO. They hey had a 40% off sale (plus another 10% off for joining the app) just before BNE lockdown. No doubt the 7 is better but these are good enough for the gym and look pretty cool.

    • Is the 40% off sale still going?
      I need a pair

      • +1

Hmm not sure, you'd be best to call them up that was the 31st July.
It was a pair on the rear shelves, so sizes and availability would vary.
        (blue with the fluro orange/yellow).

I've never had a pair, but seem true to size (i'm a 9 in Pegasus also).
        Wouldn't run in them.
Some people get half a size bigger for width but they didn't seem narrow to me.

        • I'm usually a size 13 in Nike so I never hold my breath.
          If I find, good.
          If not, I keep looking.
I mostly do weightlifting so not sure the Metcon would do the job.
I might just get a pair of Romaleos

          • @Nuclearvodka: Yeah may be slim pickings, i've only noticed 5 pairs of 13s in the reduced ones when I've been so maybe easier online or new stuff

  • Thanks OP. Bought one. The discount also seems to apply to the metcon 6s for anyone interested.

  • Reebok Nanos X were 1\2 price at Rebel last week.

Why didn't you post a deal? Been looking for a new pair to replace my 8's!

  • Thought I'd post here in the comments just incase anyone else is looking like I am for certain models, if anyone spots Nike Infinity react or asics kayano 27 in the black/grey/triple black colours for $120 or close please let me know. Thanks

  • Oohhh… gonna buy the red ones, wax my legs and munch roids.

  • +1

Good price considering they are the latest model. I already own a pair, jumped on the Mat Fraser limited editions when they were released. I'd buy another pair at this price but I'm not a fan of any of the available colourways.

If anyone has questions, I've used every model of these from the 2's, as well as a few of the latest models of the Reebok Nano's for comparison.

    • +1

Which do you prefer, nano or metcon?

Also, do they run true to size? I’m usually a 10-11, I think I’ll be looking at getting 10.5

I’m looking to get a pair, never had either before. From my research it seems that metcons are the more popular. However, Nanos have had some cool collabs.

      • Metcons all the way for me. But you'll also have people swearing by Nano's so as with all things it's personal preference. Also depends on which model of Metcon/Nano you are comparing as each has its pros/cons.

As for sizing, I'm usually an 8-9. I wear 8.5 for Metcons and 9 for Nano's. The Metcons will loosen up slightly but the Nano's stay rigid.

        • +2

IMO the nanos have much more immediate comfort right our of the box and are much more accommodating for wider feet. Both feel great though!

    • Do the 7s squeak? Last pair of Metcons I had were Metcon 4s and they squeak like crazy (never had the issue with Nanos).

      • same thing happened to me with 1st model, and the #3's

      • Just apply talcum powder on the bottom side of the insole if the squeak is coming from within the shoe - that fixed it for my metcon 3s

    • +1

Can you explain models for comparison for me? I have an older pair of metcon and they are great for weight training only. Are the Reebok nano suitable for training and weights? And are the Nike free run3 similar to the Nano - both weights and general training? Which do you prefer?

      • +1

Nano and Metcon are essentially interchangeable, and your choice of shoe depends largely on preference (you could add the latest Under Armour Tri Base line to this also). Now, there are some minor differences between models of both. For example, the heel/toe drop of the Nano X1 has jumped up to 6-8mm, where older Nanos and I believe the Metcon are 4mm. Under Armour Tri Base Reign 2 are 2mm. Sounds inconsequential, but can have great impact when switching between the drops when training. For all of these - they CAN be used for running, but it's not what you'd choose them for. If you run short distances as part of a workout at Crossfit - Metcon or Nano will be fine (Under Armour TriBase would suck for running - even less cushion), but if you're taking off for a 5k run, I would strongly advise against it.

TL;DR - Metcon = Nano and pick what you think looks better.

      • If its for weight training, can get the Romaleos 4 SE for 240 using a cash back site on nike.
Romaleos hold value very well, since they are seen as the 3rd best weight lifting shoe after $350 anta and the $700 asics boots.

        • and Chuck Taylors 4th lol.. just kidding but they are pretty good for leg days, hard soles, just a bit narrow I find.
Got the Metcon 6's for general gym/weights stuff, I think good enough for my use and the price paid. It's true about the heel slip/lift but can always tie up a little more snug. I still wouldn't run in them maybe a light warmup jog on treadmill, no serious walking etc.

        • +1

You wouldn't use them for deadlifts though, just for squats. Metcons are more versatile if you need stability and don't need a heel raise for very heavy squats.

          • @AnnaZa: I'm sorry, I'm confused, which shoes wouldn't you use for deadlift (and only for squats)?

            • @eltito: Romaleos. They have an elevated heel and are created specifically for squats.

  • Are these as flat as the 6? These look more like runners

    • Just as flat, but the 7s have been made with a more rigid heel making them unpleasant to run in if you are a heel striker like me. I prefer running in the 6's, but keep in mind you're probably not doing a lot of running in these shoes anyway.

      • What is that space in the heel for?

I'm coming from metcon 4… I'm after a shoe that's generally flat for general lifting

        • They've basically inserted the hyperlift insert that was available in the 5 and 6 models but even more rigid. It feels halfway between a general training shoe and a proper weightlifting shoe like the Romaleos. So for general lifting I'd say these would be perfect.

          • @eman13: Might give it a try.. I use romaleo when squatting… metcon for everything else

    • looks like there is no removable hyperlift insert in 7 and 7 X.

      • That's correct. The hyperlift has basically been designed into the shoe itself.

  • I've recently bought the 6's for a similar price… should I be looking at returning those in favour of the 7s?

    • if you have not worn them, then sure return them.

    • For the same price, the 7s are an improvement in every aspect over the 6s, unless you are a heel striker and want to use these for those workouts which include running.

    Are these good for walking

Edit: somewhat got my answer. The below review is good.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/asmanyreviewsaspossible.com/202…

    • +1

I wouldn't buy these for the purpose of walking shoes. They are a training shoe first and foremost, for walking I'd go with a more general type shoe (such as OzBargains favourite Adidas Ultraboosts).

      • Thx! They look pretty nice the grey one, so I was thinking to get it for the look haha

        • +1

On the plus side people will be able to hear you coming from a mile away. I wear these around the house while getting ready for the gym and they sound like I'm walking in horse hooves.

  • Code seems to work for most Nike shoes. I just bought the Pegasus 38’s for $126

  • Code also works for other things - if you need a pair of Olympic Lifting / Squat shoes, 30% off code works on Reebok Legacy Lifter II, bringing them down to $175. Sadly The Iconic does not stock Nike Romaleos.

  • i think the code only works once per account. I couldnt use it for a second purchase for shoes for my kids.

  • I have been keeping an eye on these.
This is a great find considering the Metcon 7 was just released!

  • Wish this deal was posted few days ago, when there was 20% Cashback. There's also $10 Cashback from Commbank (might be targeted). Probably can stack that with $20 sign up bonus!

    • Wait, can you stack the sign up bonus with this coupon? Would make these $113!

      • I haven't tried but I'm hoping you can. And comment below mentions another $10 saving with Shopback challenge. A true OZbargainer would stack 'em all :)

  • There's also a $10 bonus challenge in cashback for iconic (spend $99 or more), under the earn more - may be of some use to someone (just noticed it).

    • On what site is this on?

      • saw it on the shopback app

  • +1

Got my 7s in the post already! Thanks OP.

    • Nice! Got my 7 on the way, can’t wait for the workout with those.

  • This + shopback 12% + $10 challenge = metcon 7 react for $125 👍

    Thanks for the post.
