Competitions - "Winning Moments"

So here's a new one… During some instant win competitions now, the promoters have developed this idea of "winning moments". I just went to enter a Vaalia competition, which gives the chance to win a prize every hour, however deep inside the T's and C's it would appear that there's only a 3 second "winning moment". Meaning that you can only win inside a 3 second window every hour…

Sneaky!

There are up to 2,300,000 unique codes that will be issued on the inside of Eligible Products for this promotion, however winners will be selected by a computerised random system based on pre-determined times. A three-second winning moment will be randomly selected every 60 minutes throughout the Promotional Period and one (1) prize will be available to be won for each winning moment within each 60 minute period.  The first valid entry received during that winning moment, will be the instant winner.  If no valid entry is received during that winning moment, no prize will be awarded in respect of that 60 minute period of the Promotional Period.

So they randomly decide for today's 11PM hour slot, the first person whom entered from 11:21:05 to 11:21:08 would win a prize. If no one did within those 3 seconds, no prize.

    Super sneaky.

Another reason not to trust or bother with competitions.

They can be good, and I've won some good stuff through them (and I got a friend hooked as she recently won a $500 ice cream maker from a $5 yoghurt purchase), but this shit is just crazy. Comp plastered on the packaging, yet the chances of winning are so slim!

The instagram competitions are even worse, cos theyre not regulated, and it's always people with a big following who seem to win, so they get more publicity…

It would feel like OzB treasure hunt day, but someone would get something here. :)

The promoter is Lactalis Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 56 072 928 879)

Is this the same Lactalis thats in court by the ACCC for alleged Dairy Code breaches? https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/lactalis-australia-in-…

Disappointing, previously i've seen other brands have allotted winning times but the prize would go to the next person who enters from that time be it a few seconds or hours after.
