ShopBack's cashback Ineligible for AirTag Hermès, Apple AirTag, Bose products, iPad Pro M1, 8th Gen iPad, iMac 24” M1…

    oh…

  • Macbook Pro M1!

I'm in lockdown in VIC, does anyone know if Apple is doing click and collect? I don't really trust delivery when I'm sandwiched between two neighbours who are involved in shady activities…

    • no c&c

      https://www.apple.com/au/retail/chadstone/

"We're currently open for Click & Collect only. We are unable to welcome walk-in customers at this time, but look forward to welcoming you for Click & Collect."

Apple Chadstone (actually all VIC Apple Stores) are doing C&C. Just choose to C&C during checkout.

Thank you, you were right! I'll be collecting my machine direct from the store on wednesday… I'm so excited, I've upgraded from a 2012 Macbook Pro and this is the only way I was going to get a discount on a custom build, for my business 😊

  • Pay with the 4% discounted gift card and you saved 11%

    Not bad at all

    • +5

Don't think you can use gift cards and get the 7%

      • Cashback is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, & any amount paid for with Gift Cards.

Apple gift cards don't work with cashback (as pointed out above).

And, the cashback is only on the non-GST component of your purchase. Net discount is < 7%

      EDIT: Net discount is: (1 / 1.1) x 0.07 x 100 ~ 6%

They mention the following as an exclusion “Purchase items using Employee Purchase Program”. When I clicked through their link, it went to the AOC Edu page (was looking using this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/641911?page=1#comment-1084…).
Would the AOC Edu store (or even the normal Edu store) be part of this exemption?

    • +3

The edu store has a seperate listing on Shopback, at only 1.5%

      So no.

    • AOC Education Store is only meant for members of the Education Union, i.e. an EPP store.

So if you can, is the way to go to buy gift card from ShopBack then use it on edu store?

    • No.

      • Why can’t you get the gift cards and pay via edu store? No cashback it’s true but you would still get the discounted price payed with gift cards

        • yeah that's what I was wondering too - coz I think that's more discount than going via CR or SB apple channel to buy directly (even considering cash back)

          • +1

@youngchul76: If you go via aoc edu and use gift cards you would save a little.
If you wait sometime they have 8% cashback via normal education, hence the basic air m1 would cost $1242
But atm aoc has m1 at $1297, take away 4% it would cost about the same as (when and if) they do 8% cashback
If you can wait they will gift AirPods in January for same price

  • The op mentions “trade in parts” as part of the exclusions but I cannot find any reference to that in the shop back info/terms and conditions. Does anyone know if trading in an iPhone to buy a new one would be still be eligible for this?

    • No idea, but why wouldn’t you just sell? You’d get more than Apple. It’s a bit like trading your car (better to sell privately)

      • Totally agree if it was in better working order, sadly it’s developed this issue https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/643237 and now 100% of the time the audio button during calls is greyed out with no audio either in out. Seems not uncommon for iPhone 7, https://www.ifixit.com/News/32783/how-to-fix-a-grayed-out-sp…

Anyway figured it’s easier in this condition to trade in to Apple than sell via gumtree or eBay. Trade in for not fully functioning iPhone 7 Plus should be $155 which seems a bit better than eBay. Catch will be if they claim it is worth less after reviewing the unit which admittedly is a unknown factor up front.

Have also confirmed from shopback in writing that the trade in shouldn’t invalidate getting cash back.
