Any Evidence of Hacking in the Install.log?

If a MacBook Pro had been hacked, would there be any evidence of it in the install.log?
Asking for a friend. Honestly :)

No, the evidence would be in whatever software they are exploiting.
If you need assistance, install an antivirus or hire a professional.

Trust me, it happens through the browser.

It's a well marketed fallacy but Apple products are susceptible to hacks just like every other OS.

  • Define "hacked".

    • Duh, what a hacker did to it!

If a MacBook Pro had been hacked

Would be in pieces, if hacked. Was someone looking firewood? /s

My 5 years in JB hi-fi I've never ever heard of a hacked Mac there's a reason why we feel guilty selling Norton as an add-on with a Mac 😂

You should feel guilty selling Nortons, period!

      • Is Norton a female?

He should feel guilty for being an imposter, thinking sales gives him IT security expertise.

  • if macs had the widespread use like windows, trust me they would be exploited.

who wants to hack some stupid hipsters mac pro who sits in starbucks all day writing his novel whilst shitposting on twitter

When you write ‘hacked’ it kind of sets off alarm bells that somebody is taking advantage of you saying that your system is compromised, especially if you are also asking about the install.log.

It is unlikely your system has been compromised in a way that somebody unauthorised gained access to your data.

It is much more likely somebody is trying to scam you with some lies.
If you are uncertain. Unplug your computer and do some googling with your phone to see if what is apparently happening to you might be reported elsewhere as a scam..

And to save some time? If they emailed you a copy of your password saying they have records of your unsavoury browsing history, it is a scam. Don’t pay the bitcoins.

Possibly. It doesn't happen quite like in the movies. If someone is using a purpose made hacking tool, it would be pretty stupid of them to announce themselves as an installed program. However, if it's your average poweruser going off googled instructions, they may have installed legitimate software that doubles as spyware, like teamviewer or similar things. In that case, it would be announced to the system and feature an entry in the install log.

    • Very helpful,thanks!
