I don't need it, I don't need it…. but it would be so much faster than the SD card in my RPi….ahhhh

      Doooo iiitttt

It also means that I need to upgrade from an RPi3 to an RPi4 for the USB3. I've had one sitting in my cart for about 4 hours now.

        • what do u use to connect this to your pi?

          • @squidz: You can get cases that take pcie nvme ssd.

            • @xoom: Can you tell me a cheap case I can buy for this.

If you don’t need it, save your money for something you actually need.

That's not very ozbargain of you.

I don't "need" a TV, mobile phone, computer, Xbox etc. But they certainly make life more enjoyable!

        • Agreed. We may not need certain things but we sure do enjoy having them things.

Like all things in life, it's all about balance.

Like I can see the value of buying an Xbox. But I find people who buy an Xbox, PlayStation and Switch all at launch at high costs to be irresponsible with money.

Same with phones. Buy a quality phone and make it last, sure. But I find buying a new flagship each year irresponsible.

          Just my viewpoint.

@PainToad: Oh completely agree. I got my Pixel 4a 5g for $99 thanks for JB deals + price matching, rocking my Pixel 2 ($59/month, thanks Telstra website bugs). I'll probably pick up a Series X once they drop below $400-$500. I've been eyeing off the RPi4 + SSD for a while, waiting for it to hit that sweet spot that balances tigh-ass-ness and new-geek-toy-ness. Any day now….

Might be a few years wait

@Danstar: My backlog is pretty substantial, I won't have to worry about Series X exclusives for a while haha.

A mature, sensible and patient attitude. Very rare around here.

            • @ashanrath: Can you please buy all my gadgets? :P

              (I'm only half kidding lol)

    • Do IT!!

  • any deals on 1 TB ?

  • NVMe > SATA

  • -4

How is it RAM is for example $50 for 8GB, and you can get 256 GB for $40??

    • +5

SSD and Ram are vastly different speeds. Intel tried to bridge the gap with a Midrange product called Optane but it ended up being too expensive as storage and too slow as RAM alternative.

There are only 3 Major RAM manufacters and they are colluding to keep prices high this is documented in lawsuits consumers sometimes win.

    • DDR4 2666MHz has a peak transfer rate of about 21GB/s, double that for dual channel and over 80GB/s in quad channel.

It rarely hits those, but still a bit faster than most NVMe.

    • completely different things

  • I got a 500gb NVM and I got a 500gb SSD, if i want to use mainly for gaming and store movies. Which one should i go next?

    • 1TB or 2TB NVME SSD Gigabyte Auros for $188/$379.20 next Ebay or Computer shop special

      • I am hoping for 2TB 980 Pro but well…. can't be choosy I guess.

    • Open hwinfo and have a look what ur game and movie read speeds are. I think a pcie 3 nvme paired with a 2tb HDD would be enough.

I store all my games across a pcie3 ssd and a hdd, and all movies goes to the HDD. Never saturated the bandwidth.

Don't need to over spend, HDD still fine for lot of stuff

    • Thanks many for all the advice

    • I store movie in 4T HDD.
      And games in sata ssd
      Main drive software in nvme

    • 4tb 5400rpm hdd nas

  • +1

just changed yesterday my windows to an M.2 and OH BOY, so much faster!

    • From Sata SSD or HDD?

      • From ssd

        • Awww now i'm tempted

  • Didn’t need it, but can’t pass it up at that price.

Ended buying a RGB AIO cooler that’s on sale too ($59 down from $89).
