      Not hard if you are not ocd.
      Run the wire along the windscreen pillar, down to your foot well, go thru your car flooring then up thru back seat.

      Grab some fleece tape if you want to tape the cables down.

      Buffered parking mode and 4k instead of 2k.

      I am seriously considering this deal but the lack of buffered parking mode is putting me off.

      I don't want to sift through a lot of continuous footage using low bitrate modes or miss 10-15 seconds leading up to a parking event in typical parking modes.

          Oh whoops.

          Thought it was pro vs plus.

          Normal vs plus is basically just 1080p vs 2k.

          Plus vs pro is 2k vs 4k and buffered parking.

          Only the pro model has buffered parking modes.

              @gomango: Buffered parking mode = motion triggered with 15 seconds leading up to the event recorded.

              The story with buffered parking mode and Viofo is a bit messy but long story short - they used to ship all three A129 models with buffered parking modes and subsequently removed it later in the normal A129 and A129 plus due to issues, but left it in the Pro.

              The only parking mode that can give you a full picture in the plus is low bitrate or time-lapse modes but you then have the issue of large videos with no action filling up your SD card.

    I got this a few months ago. While I'm happy with the cameras themselves, it totally ruined my car's radio reception.

    It turns out the cables that ship with it aren't properly shielded and don't have enough 'ferrite cores' (those bulky bits on ends of cables).

    I raised this with Viofo and they sent me a new shielded cable and 4 ferrite cores. Only problem is I already paid someone to run the cable to the rear (hatchback so difficult to DIY) and would have to pay them again to replace the cable.

    So my advice is: if you get this, make sure the right cables are sent, or request them before installing!

      Not sure how your cables were run but I avoided running the damcam cable close to the radio antenna and the radio reception is same pre and post install for both analogue and DAB radio (Mazda CX5)

    This is better value IMO. I picked mine up for around 130 after some Aliexpress discounts (front + back camera + hardwire kit). Looks cleaner and more modern. Only con is, it takes a while to get delivered

        Paid a guy on air tasker to hard wire it in, and also do front + back camera install. Couldn't be happier actually. Everything is as tidy and neat as can be and very aesthetic, hard wiring works a charm and gives parking surveillance mode and saves the lighter port. Cost me about $130 all up

          How is the parking surveillance mode? Worried this mode would kill my car battery, I'm not very knowledgeable with vehicles but bought a new car and looking for a good video recording system that works when parked

            @zintill: There shouldn't be a risk of it killing your car battery, because you can set it so that once the battery dips below a certain voltage, the cam will turn off. It'll usually last 2 to 3 days before turning off if you're not driving for a while

            @silverbluephoenix: My dealership offered to install hardwired dashcam when they rang me for pre-delivery few days ago.

            I guess they sub to dashcam installer and put their stamp of approval on top as they dont 3star badged dashcam yet (unlike 4 circles or the blue white circle brand)

      The 70Mai is good quality for the price-point there is no arguing that.

      But people need to realize it has an inbuilt battery and not a Super Capacitor compared to the Viofo which means it won't last as long and its more susceptible to failure in high-heat scenarios.

      I can't comment on the level of customer service on either company but you can't really go wrong with choosing either.

      The most important feature however that wins me over is the ease of use of the Viofo app by comparison and ability to directly download files to my phone over the inbuilt Dashcam Wifi.

      Edit: i have the Viofo 129 Pro and have not had any issues 2 years on so far , i bought a cheap suction cup mount off ebay so when i use a rental car or have to drive in another car that is not my own its basically a straight swap. Can find it on eBay after a quick search.

        Yeah good point mate, definitely something to consider.

        Don't know about the Viofo app, but the 70mai app works well for me to view and download footage over the phone via wifi.

        Agree. I had a battery dash cam and it swelled up after a couple of months. I live it sunny QLD so it gets hot here.

        I've had the a129 duo since launch and it's still going great, mines linked to a cell link neo so it's recording constantly for 8-10hrs a day.

        The Mrs has the a119s in her car and it's been rock solid as well. I did have an a119 fail on me and viofo were great to deal with even though I bought the cam from an ebay seller. Only rubbish part was sending the cam back to China beige they sent a replacement.

          I have been using a A119 for 3 years and it has survived very well in Sunny QLD. Recently upgraded to a A129 as I wanted the Wifi connectivity and rear cam.

        I had a battery powered dashcam popped during South Australia summer 4 or 5 years ago.

        No fire but the loud bang like firecracker exploding was not nice experience when you were driving.

        Yeah I did. I'd suggest getting a high endurance card. Either Sandisk High Endurance or Samsung Pro Endurance. These cards are made for continuous video recording

      you would have to get a bit creative with the sticky (stick on opposite side as the regular way) but i don't see why not. From memory the rear camera itself has about 60 degrees of vertical movement to cater for slants in the rear windscreen…

      The A139 3CH has an inside camera but that has night vision LEDs. Otherwise nighttime recording may be bad.

    To be honest I don't see the point of a high quality dash cam (1440P 60FPS). As long as the camera can record the crash and pick up the other car's number plate, it's good enough

    Functionality in the sense of battery life and storage is something which would be convenient

    Anyone else agree? I actually want to know what you guys think about this

      I think this is a hard one: different light conditions, distance between cars and speed of the cars can really affect your ability to capture the licence plate.

      I've seen a lot of lower res/lower quality dashcam footage on YT which don't clearly capture the licence plates at medium distances, esp at night. Depends on one's use case but I think performance in afternoon/evening/night is important, and that's where a lot of the low end ones fail. High end ones can only do so much as well.

      Not sure what raw footage before uploading to YT looks like though.

      I'm waiting on the A129 Pro Duo for the buffered parking mode :)

        It definitely is a hard one and lighting conditions would be a major limitation for many dash cam systems. The requirement for 60FPS would come in with the whole aspect of car speed too.

        I've seen some lower res/lower quality dashcam footage on YT as well. I've most definitely seen 1080P footage which was perfectly clear enough to capture licence plates, so I'll stick to my opinion that 1080P is good enough for a dash cam.

        But yea you're definitely right there, performance in afternoon/evening/night is very important and opens my eyes up to a new requirement when making this purchase

          Price point will be too high and the compute will be too great for the tiny ic. Those Sony sensors are cheap as chips :)

          Not too mention the standard lens these dashcams have.

      I have a cheaper dashcam and I kind of have the opinion that as long as it records what occurs I'm happy. Sure not getting the number plate of a hit and run would be terrible.. But that's not what I'm worried about. I just want something that corroborates my written statement about what occurred. Maybe in the future I'll have more money and it'll be worth going down the avenue of a better (and much more expensive) dashcam that can read plates from a distance, but that's not high on my spending priorities right now.

    Don't fall for the WiFi function. It is very slow, the only "real time" about it is the "real" time you are wasting.

    If you want to buy it, don't buy because it has WiFi.

      its only slow if you use the 2.4GHZ frequency or you have a slow phone internet connection or a combination of both.

      Takes only a few mins depending on the file size , most people buy endurance cards that can handle the constant read/write and change the recording to store in 2 minute intervals thus reducing the overall file size and making it easier for download.

        5G wifi connected to Iphone 11 pro max on airplane mode with Sandisk Extreme pro microsdxc .

        I set recording 2 mins chunks and it took more than 2 mins to pull em down.
        When at home, I just remove the sd card and plug it to my pc.

    I noticed when my car is in parking mode and turn on the car again, the bottom left light keeps flashing and i need to pull the cable and replug to restart it. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

    I am wondering is it my Micro SD card? (i have a SanDisk High Endurance Card) or did i get a faulty unit?

    Bought this a while back and it works great however the cables are quite thick so feeding it through to the rear might not be perfect depending on the car.
    I also just recently added the HK3 hardwired kit to it, again the cables are thick.
    I could not get the parking mode to work even though there is definitely power when the car is off (i can press a button to turn it on).
    The auto event detection setting doesn't save but I don't mind, I just didn't want to plug into the usb.

      Try updating the firmware and set the parking mode to 10fps loop and sensitivity medium.
      Auto detection does not really work in a129 plus duo iirc.

          There is a parking timer setting. Min 30minutes. Max cant remember.
          My car cig port shut off exactly after 30 mins turning engine off so I didnt need to set that one.

    How much does it cost to get this installed by someone? Can anyone recommend a company/person who does installation?

      Any audio installer can do it. Probably 1 hour labour if you have a sedan + $30 for a hardwire kit and fuse tap. So $100-ish should cover the install.

      Hatchback, wagon, SUV will cost more, because the rear window moves, they need more time to route cable cleanly. Usually through factory fittings, so need to remove a lot of trim pieces.

      If you don't require hardwiring (parking mode) and have a sedan, you can install it yourself fairly easily.
