some crazy prices for a 2021 model.
Under 2K for an OLED this early is insane, even if only the A1 - still a great price.
Ends August 8.
Enjoy.

Seems expensive though compared to the C1
Still very expensive compared to pre covid though!
no hdmi 2.1
I hadn't heard of A1, quick look seems to suggest it's only 60hz (instead of 120), has an older processor (a7gen4 instead of a9gen4), doesn't have hdmi 2.1, and inbuilt speakers are worse.
so looks like definitely not for gaming, might be a bit worse picture quality in some edge use cases and be a bit slower? but for people who only watch tv/movies and want to get an OLED, looks like a decent option. although the other B/C versions can sometimes get close to this price right?
but there might be more to it.
The Bx 65" is also $2995 at jb Hi-Fi, not sure how it compares, but you raise some good points.
Seems like BX is a better TV: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-bx-oled-vs-lg-a1-…
The LG BX OLED and the LG A1 OLED deliver nearly identical picture quality, but differ in their extra features and gaming performance. The BX is much better for gaming, with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports for next-gen consoles, a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for advanced gaming features, including variable refresh rate technology (VRR). The BX is also better for movies, as it has an optional Black Frame Insertion feature, and it can remove judder from all sources.
Would definitely pick the BX over the A1, far more capable machine!
Just noticed the C1's base price went up at JB… $3K for the C1 55 inch…hmmmm
most brick and mortar retailers have bumped the price of LGs and Sonys today. I've been keeping an eye on the C1 and X90J series and they've gone up a few hundred bucks across the board at JB, TGG, HN etc.
That was because LG themselves were running a promotion reducing the standard sale price until the 4th of August.
Just curious if there was any other Full array LED you had going up against the X90J ?
nah not really… i'm a bit anti-samsung for unrelated reasons, so i've basically ruled those out but when i've looked at them in the flesh they're great looking TVs. i've also ruled out the budget brands since i'm mostly looking for gaming-friendly features for the magical day when i can somehow get my hands on a PS5.
If you're not looking for gaming then potentially last year's Sony models are a good shot? There's some questions around how they've implemented 120hz at 4K but apart from that they look like pretty solid units.
Given the shortage of new silicon, looks like they've raided their parts bins for old panels and processors.
Need a table to understand the different lg models.
So you can have eARC without 2.1? I thought eARC was 2.1 specific
Manufacturers can implement some of the features. I had a 2019 LG model which had eARC and no VRR. Most of the Sony TVs with HDMI 2.1 also just have earc and no VRR. They are supposedly adding VRR through a firmware update but I wouldn't hold my breath.
@El Chyeah: Definitely don't buy items based on promised future features, stick to the currently delivered stuff that you can access from the start. Future features are just a potential bonus, but don't cry when it doesn't happen.
@Alzori: I did cry when it didn't happen with my 2019 LG, because they had advertised it on their website as having VRR with no mention of it coming in a future update, and then after I called them they removed all references to VRR from the product page and told me it doesn't have VRR and will never have it due to a hardware limitation.
Managed to get a free upgrade to a 2020 model as a result :)
@El Chyeah: Damn, that's a terrible/awesome outcome.
@El Chyeah: Which LG was that? I got a B8 which there had been some rumours of an eARC update, but never happened.
@y2k: it was an LG 86SM9400PTA, which was more of a B9 era tv (2019 models).
that's what I was expecting too, but as far as I can tell the gen 4 means it's a recent processor, just not as high spec as the ones in B1/C1/G1. but information isn't exactly easy to get on when it was made and what the generations mean etc
Th price of the 65A1 is what I`d expect to pay for the 65C1.
Price is only going up on the C1
This isnt crazy, the 65 g1 was crazy a month ago for $34xx. This pricing is av
I'm very interested in the G1 77", but it doesn't seem to get regular discounts like the lower models… maybe later in the year?
I've seen the A1 setup next to the C1. Motion is 'janky' compared to the C1. It really does feel like a budget TV with a premium price.
I paid for a 65 inch C1 a couple of weeks ago for the price of an A1 today. Retailers raising the price..what the heck…
It shows how much the retailers are struggling this year compared to last year. Everyone already has their WFH set up and the TV, coffee machine etc. I was even surprised to see that the Samsung S21 series has sold 18% devices than the already poor selling S20 series last year.
More bargains for us though!
