AMAYSIM - Seems it is going to die soon?

What is going on with Amaysim? ??

It seems that Optus, the new owner, is trying to cannabilize this once good Telco and kill it off, once and for all.

1) You can't verify ID anymore - you need to take a screenshot of your ID and send it to them by email. They told me, by live chat, that verification hasn't been working FOR WEEKS!

2) You can't replace a SIM ("sim swap") unless it's in the hours of 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. It then takes OVERNIGHT, as someone in the Philippines is obviously doing it manually:

"
You're about to switch your existing mobile number over to your replacement SIM. It's important to know you won't be able to use your old SIM after this. Your request will be processed shortly, please insert your new SIM into your device. SIM swap requests can take up to 3 hours to process.

If your request is after 4pm it may take until the next day before being processed.
"

3) Their Customer Services, now based in the Philippines (used to be Sydney), now finishes at 6pm every day. Used to be 10pm.

Optus wants the customers not the business itself.

Seems like cost cutting, rather than death.

They're just aligning their CS to be same level as Optus :)

Yeah, I was shocked Optus needed livechat to do a port-in as well. Seemed so backward.

Hahaha… Good riddance. Shit MVNO backed onto a shit network. Can't have come soon enough.

    • yeah, they were on the way down hill well before Optus got their hands on them.

Who knows what Optus is up to, they might not know themselves.
Their attempt at kicking off their own budget telco Gomo seems to have fallen flat.
