      mamma mia!!

    • Farfalle…. By the way “Falle” means trap in German… no joke…

      • So Farfalle means "far from a trap"…So GET IN. no joke

        • Nice word gambling, but they still trap you with unnecessary delivery costs…

        • +1

Where would you be without humor ???

    • No there is one with free delivery.

  • The no 71 has a min 3 qty per order.

  • +1

    No 5 is superior

    • +1

      What's the difference

      • +3

        2

      • No 5 is slightly thicker. Better for al dente texture, the Italian way. No 5 is the regular spaghetti size.

    • I second that. For spag Bol or carbonara it needs to no5.

For seafood spaghetti 3 is ok

  • No. 3 ordered! Thanks OP!

$1.90 is the same price as Coles

  • Do they taste different from Aldi pasta?

    • +4

Not sure about the Aldi pasta, but Barilla is made in Italy and fairly got quality.
Put salt in the water, stick to the times on the box and give it a try!

    • +5

Cheap aldi pasta will taste like cardboard once you've had better quality pasta, like Barilla. It's sooooo much better for almost very little price difference. Best upgrade life tip for food.

Fresh is obviously better than dried, but way more expensive.

    • +4

I have had both Barilla and Aldi’s Remano and in my (non-Italian) humble opinion, I find Aldis to be better…however taste is very subjective so I’m sure others won’t agree.

    • +1

Almost any pasta not made in Italy is quite crap in comparison. The difference is huge. I haven't tasted Aldi, but stuff like Zafarelli or Balducci, are almost unedible once you taste the real Italian pasta.
Among the "made in Italy" pasta, Barilla is one of the worst though. La Molisana for example is far better quality.

      • Thank you for the insight. I found that woolies sells La Molisana. I will try it.

      • San remo seems to be popular here. Does it taste better?

        • +1

          San Remo is not good

  • Penne lisce should be illegal. Che schifezza!

    • +1

What's wrong with penne? Has great texture and holds sauce well

      • +1

Penne are fantastic. Penne lisce have the smooth outside, no grooves. Doesn't hold sauce nearly as well and the texture is wrong.

        • Personally, I like penne liscie with cheese sauce (butter+italian parmesan+black pepper)
Agree they doesn't go well with tomato based sauces

    • Yes penne rigate are fantastic

  • First the Euros, then Eurovision, throw in this great deal on Italian-made pasta and end up with a double gold medal in Olympic athletics.

What a wonderful time to be an Italian!

    Hairy upper lips aside…
