  • i've got both the SRPC31J and SRPC33J. paid $299 for both and i thought i got a good deal then, so this is an amazing bargain.

    • can you confirm if the second crown is for moving the compass bezel? I assume it is, but strange that it isn't mentioned.

      • +1

        It is.

  • +2

The blue one looks great but I don't wear watches.

    • +30

Sounds like you're about to join the club.

Be carefull though, once you start down the watch path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will…

      • Can you let me know when you find a Lange 1 for <$1,000 please. 😜

      • You probably get this question a lot but whats a great, cheapish first watch to get into?

      • Do you own any expensive ones like Rolex?

        • +1

No, the most expensive is a Seiko dive watch. I have no interest in owning a Rolex.

  • +1

Thanks OP just grabbed a blue one. Looks great.

  • Great prices

  • Code GREENAUTO doesn't work

    • Works fine.

      • Now works

  • +1

Thanks, got a blue one. I am accumulating too many watches…

  • Not wanting to hijack, but WatchNerd, thoughts on the Timex Weekender Chronograph and pricing?

  • Which ones are cased in Japan? Only SRPA73J?

    • Only model numbers ending in J

  • Interested to know where these deals are posted / is the OP associated? Only wanting to know because I’m search for good watches ATM and don’t want to miss further discounts!

    • +2

You can go to Watchnerd's page (or anyone else for that matter) and subscribe to their posts, apparently 111 people already do this.

    • +2

Hey mate just subscribe to Star Buys, most of these deals come in their email newsletter. Or subscribe to Watch Nerd.

  • +1

    What is jdm?

    • +1

      Japanese domestic market

  • Thanks OP. Looking for khaki styled watch and the green one caught my eye.

And then I saw this, https://starbuy.com.au/seiko-prospex-mens-watch-ssc295j/

    Any deals on that one?

    • I bought that one back in may for $299. Maybe WatchNerd can get a better price on that, too..? 😉

      • Oh how was it? Would you recommend it to anyone? I’m going solely by the looks of that watch. I don’t know how good Seiko Solar watches are.

        • I'm very happy with it, although I've only worn it once (I wear the SRPC33j and black casioak mainly). Great lume, nice action on the chrono pushers. Wears a little on the large side because the lugs are long and don't curve down as much. Same strap as the srpc autos — nylon with leather backing which is comfortable straight out of the box. It's my only solar Seiko so far as I've got more Citizen Eco drives. I'd wait for a lower price, $299 or less. I've seen it pop up on the weekend flash sales a couple of times. Just keep an eye out every Friday arvo

          • @tdw: Thanks mate. Yeah, got an ecodrive and absolutely love it. Always wondered how seiko solar fared with ecodrive as I always felt automatic and kinetic are seiko’s thing and solar is citizen’s thing.

            • +1

@hellbuster: Yeah, I just haven't had them long enough to compare the two.

            • +1

@hellbuster: I got one each Seiko solar, and Casio solar both are still going strong. 11yrs and 7 yrs respectively.

  • +1

Very nice, but Manta Ray King Samurai watches please, I'm waving my credit card….

  • Out of curiosity WN which brand of watch do you have the most of?
If I were to take a guess I'd say citizen but that's just a wild guess.

    • Yeah I've probably owned more Citizen Eco-Drives than Seiko watches.
Dive watches are my favourite style of watch.

      • Hi WatchNerd, I've been looking at the Citizen Eco-Drives and really like their style. They also appear to be thinner than the Seiko's which I prefer. As an everyday watch I've been eyeing off the Citizen Eco-Drive AW1148-09E - looks great on screen. What are your thoughts?

        • +1

You should always buy what you like as you're the one that's going to be wearing it, and you can't go wrong with a Citizen Eco-Drive.

      • +1

They are hard to beat for value for money.

  • I have a very similar watch, but with the green band, model SSC295P1. I love it, but the band is looking ratty and I need a new one. 21mm between lugs, so I am not sure whether to buy 20 or 22mm bands. I'd love to get a replacement original band, but haven't been able to find one.

    • Barton do a similar one in 21mm.

      • Thank you for sharing this! I wasn't aware of this strap brand, and they have nice stuff.

  • For some reason the coupon didnt work at checkout and charged me full (half-discount, sale price) - any chance theres a rep around?

  • Blue looks the best.

  • -2

Hardlex and transparent back..not good enough for a $500 watch.

    • +4

Lucky it's here for $269 then

  • -1

    https://starbuy.com.au/seiko-prospex-200m-mens-watch-ssc675p…
why am i looking at $359 delivered?

    Am I missing something???

    • +2

      the SOLARDIVER coupon code?

  • -2

like the khaki…very nice aviation/military look to it, but seems pricey for what it is

    • +2

Why is it pricey for what it is ? Care you give us your details opinion on it? Also can you show us what we can get that's better compared to this watch at $269?

  • Just ordered blue one, thanks WatchNerd!

  • where's a good place to buy replacement straps like the nylon one that comes with the blue?

  • Great watch! Really wish the strap was metal over fabric.

  • -2

    4R35 …

disgusting movement. The MacDonald of automatic movement.

  • Can someone explain to me how you’d use the rotating compass bearings? I presume you’d set them from a compass which would make them useless if you have a compass?

Please excuse my ignorance on the matter.

      • +1

        Thanks dude

      • Thanks for sharing. I've always been curious about the compass function and it seems a little painful once it's been explained.

Although if you are relying on the sun, and you know the time, and it's not noon, it seems relatively straightforward to approximate compass points with a similar level of accuracy as the compass bezel offers.

I've queued it up to where the reviewer explains it for others.

    • i'm using the north arrow like the pip on a diver's watch bezel to indicate a start time. cardinal points are at 15 minute intervals so easy to see how long i've been stuck in traffic, for e.g.

  • +1

I have this in green. It is OK.
Gets scratches very easily on both glasses.
    Works and looks fine.
If you can, just get Steinhart. You spend about $600-800 but you get a proper Swiss quality.

    • thanks for posting your experiences…for a $600 rrp i'd want more than just 'ok'

      • Steinhart is truly spectacular. That being said, if you're looking for a decently priced watch with a $700rrp, look at the King Samurai SRPE35K or the SRPE03K. I'd also have a look at Boldr, or a Helm Vanuatu.

        • a bit (actually a lot) out of my price range but i do enjoy browsing different watches and brands…will put them on my list of things to check out ;)

  • Waiting for SRPC61J to be back on sale.

  • +1

    Cheers WN!
$299 for the Solar Prospex 'Save the Ocean' is a steal!

  • Cheers OP, ordered a SRPC33J to bash about.

  • Damn was gonna go 'Save The Ocean' but too late - can still get it for $309.00.. Guess I will wait for the next deal.. :/

  • I missed this deal - is this something that comes up every now and then or was it a once-off?

    • +1

i believe it's the cheapest the srpc33j and srpc31j have ever been. starbuy have discounted them to $299 a few times before.
shiels also have both the blue and green ones on sale for $299 right now: https://www.shiels.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=srpc3

      • +1

Awesome, $299 is a great buy still! Thanks @tdw
