General Questions about Amazon Credit

I have $5 amazon credit from previous promotion and must be used before a certain date, which I forgot when.

I have two questions:

Is there a way to find out when my credit expires? I know I can see my Gift Card balance. But how about credit information, like balance and expiry date.
If I buy something less than $5, say $3.50. Will the credit balance become $1.50? Or will it become zero?

Can't help with 1. Perhaps contact customer service and see if they can look it up. As far as 2 goes, I've used Amazon provided credit split over multiple purchases.

1 - when I've received a refund into my amazon account, it'll sit there until I choose to use it. I haven't seen any expire dates (I could be wrong).
2 - your credit will reduce and the remaining balance will show. You wont lose the remaining balance if you don't use it in one purchase.

Promo credit doesn’t expire, but can be used only on items sold by Amazon.

If you partially use your credit, the balance will apply to subsequent transactions.
