Any Good TVs under 50inch?

Posting mainly to whinge about Harvey Norman but also accepting TV recommendations.
My 12yo 40inch Bravia TV has started to have ghosting while warming up so I decided against better judgement to get check out a replacement at my nearest retailer which happens to be HN.
I have a preference for Sony's less cartoony colours and had narrowed it down to either a 50" x90 or a 43" x85 and really just wanted to know which would look best against the 115cm of wall my own plan house allowed for a TV. So naturally I asked the nearest staff member what the horizontal dimensions were, but apparently not her department but she did say someone would be right with me. So I stood around like a dick for 10 minutes fully expecting someone to come and tell me whether I could fit the 50 inch screen or not. Needless to say I walked out and went to Google to get an answer. Seriously how the do they expect to survive with a physical store if they can't help out with simple questions if they aren't going to give any assistance I may as well but online and just trust it won't be too big.

Rant over but I've decided I'd like something smaller than 50 but can't seem to find anything other than either the x85 or the lg Oled. Any other recommendations to check out?

    It’s NH, no surprises there.

There is still a market for the “boomers” that aren’t google or online savvy (prefers bricks and mortar), have $$$ and believe in NH narratives.

    • First home buyers that don't have any money and can use Harvey Norman's interest free loans to furnish their homes.

    • NH?

    Get a bigger wall.

    • 50" 4k screen will be 44.2 inches wide, while 50" QHD screen will be 43.6 inches wide due to the different aspect ratios. Either one will probably squeeze in.

  • Yes, probably.

I purchased a Samsung 50in QLED NEO QN90 tv, most happy with the set. I also later purchased a sound bar :- Samsung 561A from the Marion branch of HARVEY NORMAN here in Adelaide. The salesman offered to demonstrate the soundbar, which I agreed to and after settled on a additional discount of $25 and indicated with the demonstration that a black one is ok.

However, on being directed to the checkout, I was directed to PayWave my card and off I went to collect the soundbar from the shipping office.

Returned home and later after installing the NEO TV & soundbar, came the time to gather up the paperwork for warranty registration.

Fool me!! - I noticed the soundbar was a grey one, and not the black one - the wife was ok with that, but on closer examination, the salesman had not included the extra $25 discount and charged full price!.

I tend in most instances to avoid Hardly Normal but due to supply issues I relented on my no buy HN policy!!. So it repeats the OzBargain no purchase mantra!!.
Next time - remember to take my glasses to see the deal at the register!.

A lesson to all and ME!!!!.

Salesperson might have been busy? Might have deemed that to be a stupid question and gone to look after someone else? Can't blame the first girl if you grabbed someone from another department.

But really, it could've been a 2 second google search on your phone while standing there…

    Just sayin

    • No issue with the first person being in the wrong department at all, no issue with the salesperson being busy either what annoyed me is they didn't let me know there would be a wait or how long.
As for googling I did a quick check before going down there and came up with being able to fit a 50"depending on the brand. If I was going to sell the TV to myself I wouldn't have bothered going into the store.
