Possible to Get a ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2021) in Australia?

Hey fellas, I'm a FIFO worker and need a 14 inch portable gaming laptop replacement for my older 14 inch laptop, I'm mostly using it to play CS:GO/COD and Netflix/movies. Settled on a ASUS Zephyrus G14 (2021) model with QHD 120Hz, 3070, 32GB RAM, but I can't seem find it in stock anywhere? I'm happy to wait 6 months or so as my current laptop isn't on its last legs yet. Happy to ship from overseas/USA too if cheaper.

I'm wanting the G14 QHD 1440p screen as it has a 9 ms response time, while the FHD 1080p has 20 ms or so response time, but happy to hear suggestions.

Contenders wise, I did consider the Razer Blade 14 (2021) as an option but seems like it has noisy fans even while web browsing which is a no no, and issues with battery bloat after a year or so. Suggestions are welcome cheers.

EDIT: August 2021 - Just an update after further research, I found PBtech selling the 2021 G14 with 3060, 32GB, 1TB SSD for a hefty A$3400, which I guess is the premium for being the only lightweight 1.7kg portable gaming laptop. However, the equivalent Razer Blade 14 with 3060 graphics is A$3100, which I would be better than the G14 given it has a webcam. The fact that the equivalent specc-ed Razer is cheaper is stopping me from pulling the trigger.

      FIFO. Smaller is better. Big laptops get old quick when traveling.

      And 14" on your desk next to your bed will cover significantly more of of your field of vision than a 65" at 4 meters.

        Yep but, could look at 13” or 15” as well.

        Alienware’s new X15 looks pretty promising. Especially with thin bezels and it’s overall thickness (similar to a Mac Pro). Reviews have seen it sit around 80 degrees on the GPU in max on decent AAA titles. My mate bought the X17 but still waiting on delivery. Quad fan set up and I believe they’re using some sort of liquid metal as a thermal compound. They’re also using a new lightweight charger that is tiny compared to most gaming laptop power bricks you also need to carry.

        I really like the G14 but yeah not sure why it’s so hard to get in Australia. The X15 or a Razer would be my next option but my previous Razer experience didn’t go well so I’m a little turned off buying one again.

        As far as I know it is, you can ask pbtech
        ASUS sell mobos all over the world, so it has to do global warranty
        pbtech have been around for yonks
        Did you check out the Origin laptops? One has got a 3080 GPU chip in it & all laptops have lifetime warranties

    The exactly same spec R9/3060/1T/16G only costs CNY13000 ($2400 AUD) at a major Chinese 3C online store. Don't know thy it's so overpriced in Australia. You can seek Taobao or Jingdong purchase guidance from ozb forum and buy from Chinese resellers. Just need to pay 10% extra GST and shipping (~$200).

      Hey mate can you give the links to the Chinese resellers please? Have you done this before and were there any issues with fake components?

      I'm guessing warranty is international for this to be worthwhile?

        I haven’t tried before but I think u can find tutorials about shopping from Taobao around ozb or YouTube

        What you need to do is arrange payment in CNY (sometimes they charge service fee if u use AUD to pay), arrange shipping (air or sea), GST (sometimes paid directly to Taobao, sometimes paid to Sydney custom)

        will need to figure out these, so I didn’t bother try, definitely doable though.

        P.S. they also sell 32g ram version

      Between those two options, the one directly from hidevolution is the better deal. The newegg one is expensive for what you are getting imo. Not only is the newegg one just FHD, it also only has 8gb of onboard soldered ram compared to 16gb of soldered ram of the other one. As the newegg one has 8gb soldered + 32gb swappable ram, not running in dual channel is slower (also lower potential to increase ram down the line for whatever reason). The FHD has a negligible bump in response time but the WQHD would give a sharper experience and more work area for most work tasks. However, Netflix does not stream videos in 1440p (WQHD) so that may not scale as nicely on a FHD native monitor and all games would obviously run faster on FHD compared to WQHD (I would rather turning down the graphic setting instead of resolution in games if the need ever arose because of scaling but a rtx3060 is more than powerful enough for your stated use).

      Btw, why do you need 32gb or more ram? Hardly any task requires that much, only things like photoshop, video processing, running many background tasks or programs at a time would need that much.

      Correct me if Im wrong but, the one from from newegg is 3750aud incl. shipping and the one from HIDevolution is 3650aud incl. shipping.

      Not only is it cheaper than the comparable one from Newegg, it has the WQHD screen which is a big win. If you really feel 16gb isnt enough you can upgrade yourself down the line to 40gb ram with something like this for 250aud: https://tinyurl.com/3r845ek7 and if you need more storage it is as equally easy to upgrade and youd still save money whilst having an extra ssd nvme you could stick in an SSD enclosure to transform into a spare mobile storage that runs off usb.

      TLDR, I'd buy locally as it is not only cheaper,it has local warranty.

    Your comment with the pbtech link is the best deal in the thread if you're certain you need more than 16gb ram and more than 512gb storage from the get-go for a rtx3060 14" laptop. The razer you refer to is not comparable as it has a lower resolution screen and half the ram. It only has a 4% faster cpu on the razer but the g14 has 33% more battery life and the cpu used in the g14 is more appropriate for the cooling solution for a 14" laptop as it will run cooler and longer. I'd rather use an external webcam than use the webcam on my laptop but i only ever use mic anyways on discord gaming. I do like that the Razer Blade 14 has two usb c to run two external monitors off of (g14 has one) or charge from on either side and the build quality is more premium ngl.

      Btw, the rtx 3060 razer blade 14 has BOTH the 8gb +8gb ram soldered onto the board, so you can't ever upgrade it.

        Keep in mind that the 2020 G14 had complaints of the fan spinning up on low loads, not certain if it was a hardware or software bug. This may not be an issue anymore as user reviews say that the 2021 revision had no such issue. You may have to change the fan settings to silent after you get it out of the box if it bothers you. Caveat emptor since you mentioned fan noise in your initial comment. The razer actually is relatively quiet considering the hardware it packed in a 14" since they use vapor chamber cooling so that the fans do not spin up on low load. That being said, the razer will always run hotter than the G14. Also, disable AMD Vari-Bright on the G14 if you plan to use the laptop outdoors alot (brighter screen at the expense of battery life).

        It may drop to 3k or below, definitely keep an eye out during black friday or end of year sales. Seeing as pbtech only has 3 more units left in stock, hopefully they'll have replenished by then.
