[PC, Oculus] Lone Echo $14.99 (Was $49.99) @ Oculus Store

1000

Finally a huge discount on this game. It's always been super popular so at this price it's a no brainer. You need to use either a link cable or oculus airlink to your pc as this is a pc game. Or virtual desktop. Have fun!

    Brilliant! Thanks OP

  • Will this work on Quest 2?

    • +4

      Yes, via Airlink/Link

    • Only if you have a PC that meets the specs.

Any yeah you need to use AIRLINK.

I was playing it today on my quest 2 today this way.

  • Any good on a tethered headset?

    • +1

I played it with a CV1, it was good. In fact when it released there prob were only tethered headsets to play it on so it was made with those in mind.

    • +1

Yes. I played with Quest 2 tethered via the USB C cable.

  • +2

Roughly $12.84 if using VPN to connect to Canada

  • +1

So tempting… but I'm still in the middle of Alyx

    • +3

Just pause the video, you can always come back to her

    • +1

I don't think the price has been this low before, get it, play it when ready as it is one the most highly regarded VR games.

  • +1

I just started playing it a few days ago. Top notch game.

    • +10

It's so good. Rationally I know it wasn't real, and I haven't actually been to outer space, but after playing this, I sure feel like I have.

A lot of VR games tend to be simple indie stuff like Beat Saber (due to the small market and therefore small budgets) which are fun but not at all the "AAA game but you are inside it and it's real" gamers hoped for from modern VR.

But this game is the real deal. Except for being short (and maybe a touch repetitive at the very end), THIS is the kind of proper AAA experience you dreamed of.

Lifelike facial animation and voice acting, stunning feeling of weightlessness and the vastness of space, grounded well-written story, well designed realistic space tech, etc, etc.

At $15 it's a must-buy if you own a VR headset and gaming PC.

      • +3

Damn do you work in their sales department 😂 you sold me and I don't even own a oculus

      • +5

Literally just bought it because of your review, thanks! :)

  • +2

Cool. I had $14 credit in my Oculus account.

    • +1

same I was wondering what I should use it for ;)

  • +3

This game is one of the best VR games.
    Can't wait for second one

  • I'm not understanding? I have Virtual Desktop on my Quest 2, so I can just buy this game and use VDesktop and play the game even though it says RIFT?

    • +3

That's correct, you can play it through VD with a Quest 2.

    • +3

Yes, and this apply to all Rift games, which is why Quest 2 is now very popular.

      • Is it better off playing through your computer rather than the quest itself? Should I refund it if I just bought from the quest store itself and go through virtual desktop app or something?

        • It depends on the specs of your PC. If its a potatoe I wouldnt recommend it. I have a pretty high end gaming PC so it's going to be better than the quest 2 but if its like lower than a certain spec it would be worse. Whats your specs?

        • +1

This game can ONLY be played using a pc. You can't play this natively on the quest 2.

          • @krammis76: is there ever a situation where i should not buy from the oculus store but some other store? Or will the oculus store always let me install all games on my PC to stream

            • +2

@Budju: I've moved off buying games from the oculus store to buying games on steam since i bought a pc. If you want to still keep playing these games on non facebook owned VR headsets, this is probably the way to go. Also there is a large library of VR games on steam. There will be exclusives on oculus which you then can either get the rift or oculus version (some games are cross buy so you can get one copy across PC/standalone). Hope this answers the question!

              • +1

@ryf: ok yeah so this one is an exclusive so alright to buy here but everything else go steam. gotcha thanks

              • +1

@ryf: Since v31, I find AirLink outperforms VD. But annoying how air-link turns off every 24hours and every reboot\restart.
Hope they make it so you can Launch Steam games from AirLink.

Anyone else find that Steam VR Home crap annoying.

      • Oh thanks man! I didnt know it applied to all of them.

  • Any way to find out how long this discount will go for?

  • +1

Is this game available on platforms other than Fecebook/Oculus? I mean, this may be a brilliant title. But I won’t sell my soul to that creep Mark Zuckerberg.

    • +5

Sorry mate but you have to facebook it up to play this one as far as i know. I'm very happy giving them everything they want if it allows me the joy of what i can get out of VR at the price they sell it at. Each to their own but i have google speakers, apple homepod stuff an amazon account and facebook for the VR stuff so everyone has all my info already. :)

    • +1

You could open up a Facebook account purely for the quest 2

  • +1

Thanks krammis, snatched this right up.

Such a shame how rarely Oculus games go on deep sale.

    • Their loss. Other than this game, all my money's going into Steam VR as a result.

  • +1

Incredible game, and the steepest discount it's ever received. This is as part of the announcement of the release date of the long-awaited sequel.

If you're on the fence, just grab it. Never been this cheap before and first-party Oculus games rarely go on sale. Last time there was a discount on this game was over a year ago I believe.

  • +1

Just played it and wow, quite immersive. You’ll need to build up your “VR legs” before diving right into it

  • Thanks krammis, grabbed a copy. Will play on Quest 2 over Air Link. Hopefully works well wirelessly.

    • +2

It does I played this way today.

      • I am on v31 and while great, I often get the occasional stutter\pause. (rebuilt the PC and this still occurs)
I am using (A/C 5g) WiFi from my Telstra Model (I assume that is the issue).

Do you use a dedicated WiFi 6 router for VR like they recommend? Do you have any recommendations?

        • I haven't had any problem with pause or stutter using Airlink.
I am just using an old Netcomm router that came from my ISP. Definitely not wifi 6.
My router is sitting directly on my desk though so my distance quest to router is just a couple of meters and has direct line of sight.
5Ghz is sensitive to distance and obstruction. Speeds will go to crap and dropouts happen if you go just 10 meters away or have even a single wall between you and the router.

I extended and relocated my landline to achieve this.
Is that an option for you before buying an expensive new gaming router ?

  • +1

Thanks a lot. Been eyeing this game for a while and was about to give up hope for a sale and buy at full price. Glad I didn't!

  • How does this go motion sickness wise?

I've tried Mission ISS and can't play for more than a couple of minutes.

    Is this one better?

    • I think everyone is different but i can play this with no issues and i do get a little bit iffy while playing Mission ISS. From what little i've played you tend to stay horizontal so i think that helps.

    • When I first tested VR on PS4 I used to get motion sick pretty easy so never used it.
When I got the kids the Oculus tried and found it better, but I still didn't like the feeling.
Watching a you tube review, basically said this can be normal. Stop when you feel uneasy, but have a got again when you feel better until you find your feet.
For myself this turned out to be true (I still feel queasy but mainly if the game is poorly written), but the more I use it becomes less of an issue.

    • Ended up buying it.

      No dramas with motion sickness.
      It's a great game.

    • It made me sick as a dog.
VR might not be for me.

      • +1

Might not be the best if it's your first vr game but once you have your vr legs it should be ok

  • Thanks OP, I’d been wanting to add it to my Rift collection for a while
