What's Wrong with Circles.life? And Are There Any Alternatives?

I've heard some horror stories about Circles.Life but I really want to get the 50GB deal they'rea advertising right now.

I'm wondering what is wrong with Circles.Life and if there are any alternatives. Also if you guys have anything to say about your experience, I'd appreciate it if you'd comment.

Remember that guy who asked about circle.life here, and a bunch of people say don’t join. Then he joined, and then make another post about the problem with circle.life?

      Could this be déjà vu.

Pretty much people asking what’s wrong, but the deal is too good, gamble and regret

Sounds like he’s done a full circle

I'm only with them because I won that 10 year free mobile plan competition they held last year.

I had issues post-porting where I was getting someone else's calls redirected to my number (from Vodafone, no less). I haven't received of any Kiara's calls in the last couple of months though so it looks like that has been sorted now. Not sure if I could pin it down to Circles.Life however in this case.

Otherwise, it's just a basic mobile service provider. Reception is fine in my area as well.

I just hope they stick around in Australia for at least 10 years so that I get my prize's worth.

    • How much data per month for 10 years? I imagine in 5 years data usage will go up with 5G roll-outs etc.

Was with them for a little over a year on the $29/mo 100GB plan, honestly no issues and only moved because I wanted a 5G plan

They sent over a spontaneous hamper one Christmas? How many telcos do that

App was (still is?) lacklustre, but covered the essentials

Porting in and porting out no dramas either

Don't know if I was just lucky or if a small loud minority were unlucky, but no complaints from me and an excellent value deal at the time

I had a 5 months free deal and several times they billed me. It was difficult getting it sorted each time as I had to explain and send them the T&Cs of their own product offer to prove I should not be billed.
It seems crazy… they have/had good deals and the connection is common Optus, so how can they stuff it up for so many people?
I would not want to experience it again, not even for free.

    • Hey xywolap! We're sad to hear that has been your experience with us. We just want to thank you for the feedback and that we're consistently working on improving our services. We hope to provide customers with the service they deserve. Cheers!

      • Yeah, but what are you actually doing to improve customer service rather than hand out meaningless, empty promises? These complaints have been coming in for years!

I used it in the past. I've got no problem whatsoever and it has decent connections in Sydney cbd. I know lots of people complaint that they still got billed after they port out their number, I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your feedback about your experience with us! Just to share here, since we're under postpaid service, its being billed for the full month already as soon as the 1st day of the month started which is why we always recommend for our customers who's porting out to do it before the month ends to avoid being charged for the following month. Also, if ever they got charged, our billing team is always here to help us waive the fees since those are considered invalid charges.

  • Can't fault Circles.Life! Better than my Vodafone coverage in Sydney - often get full bars and faster speeds. Can we share referral codes?

    • Hi there mate! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome feedback regarding our service! We truly appreciate it!

Just ported out of circles.life after a bit of trepidation given the experiences of others on this site. Port out took 15 minutes with zero issues.

The only reason i ported out is because I moved and optus reception is rubbish where i am now. Zero issues with circles and would recommend.

Ive also proactively reached out to them to tell them of the port out to make sure i dont get billed for next month. So will see how that goes (i know that was another issue others have experienced.)

  • Your experience will vary to mine , but for me this is how i rate them.

    Positives
•Quick turn-around on Port-In (original phone provider dependent mostly)
•Constant communication keeping you up to date with everything , emails + sms notifications
•Circles app has a far better layout then Optus app (by comparison) , more visually pleasing and most relevant items on main display
•Super generous data amounts for the price (i am on $28 pm / 100gb)

    Neutral
•Optus network - here is a list of what provider uses what telco everyone's connection will vary
•Company is Singapore based so online chat support can be hit and miss but general consensus is staff are friendly and helpful (as they should be)

    Negatives
•Pro-Rata charge , i got charged $61.10 on a $28 per month plan (normally $38 without discount code) in my first month, that royally pissed me off as it essentially negates the discount you get via code redemption. I would of been happy just given the option to have my number ported/activated on the start of the billing cycle then be overcharged joining in halfway through.
•Overall speed/bandwidth can be very disappointing at times even in the off-peak where for the most part people are generally asleep but i don't have any real issues with streaming services such as Netflix.

TDLR prepare for bill shock on your first bill if you go with them other then that they are generally alright and good value for money. Unfortunately for the most part the monopoly is generally Telstra , Optus , Vodafone so we don't get a huge deal of choices. but if i was after a more solid connection and faster Throughput i would not be going with Optus or Vodafone and would probably steer towards discounted Telstra options like Boost or Aldi

At the end of the day its choose 2 out of 3 based on your preferences [Speed] / [Price] / [Data]

Not affiliated and thought i would just offer my 2c to anyone weighing up their options

That must be a mistake on Circles end?

I was charged $20.77 pro-rated from the $28 when activated the sim on 9th.
