  • How much better would this be over a bunnings $29 heater https://www.bunnings.com.au/euromatic-2400w-3-bar-radiant-he…

    Cheers

    • Get one with a fan, that way the hot air gets blown around = faster warm up.

It isn't. If this is far infrared heating then it's meant to be amazing technology blah blah. The hype is that it heats up objects in the room which then emit heat, creating a much more even heating experience. The reality is they are a 450w heater. The good thing about them is they can be hung on walls and are out of the way, taking up less space etc. Also, some models don't get super hot, meaning safer around little ones. Someone in Aus did a review on them in their house, no heating vs far infrared vs heat pump. Short version is the far infrared heating definitely kept the house warm but cost twice as much to run compared with a heat pump. https://renew.org.au/renew-magazine/heating/a-tale-of-three-…

    • Sadly pretty much all cord heaters are not optimised, we bought a fancy oil heater, put it on eco mode 22c.. According to our reading, still eating 2KwH, might as well run whole house ducting at 4KwH

      • Absolutely you should run ducted air. Ducted air is 4-5x more efficient than an oil heater, this means that if your ducted air is running at 4kw, it will be generating 16-20kw of heat. That's a huge amount of heat compared to the 2kw oil heater.

If you run your ducted at a reasonable temperature (e.g. only 1-2 degrees above the room temperature) you may even end up using less than 2kw of power on average, and getting more heat than the oil heater.

I bought this flat panel heater from Amazon for $46. It's also 450w (measured) but doesn't really feel like it was heating up other objects. I got this to mount in the bathroom but I'm not entirely convinced it does a better job than my old electric heaters.

    • Different Heating Method and material.
Our heaters are Natural ir Heating, the same with Herschel heating, thank you
