    My favourite hotpot base. I use chicken stock instead of water to reduce it

      Oh wow nice tips,
      I will try it out.

      I usually bought the original one but might give this spicy one a try and use your tips :)

        no worries.. for a dipping sauce I use red fermented tofu mixed with chinese sesame paste and some chopped fresh coriander, with a couple of spoonfulls of soup from the hotpot to loosen it up. Can recommend

          Oooh
          I love fermented tofu.

          reminds me of mums cooking, never know that it can be used for dipping

          Awesome hot pot dinner it is then :D

    Do you only use half of the pouch?? Tried to cook this for a group of friends but it is so spicy that we did not enjoy it.. we could
    Not fnished the hot pot.. and just threw it away..

      Never tried the hot flavour one yet but as far as I know, you need to use the whole package.
      One rookie mistake I did when I went out before lock down was with spicy hot pot is that one not meant to drink the spicy soup.

      Silly me I though the spicy hot pot soup is ok to sip as I love hot pot and man that was such an awakening lol.

      Maybe you didnt use enough water, or didnt top it up when it evaporated? I use the whole pack regularly, and I don't have a high tolerance for spiciness.. sichuan style malatang is usually too spicy for me to enjoy.

      @simulacrum
      you could be right.

      Sichuan malatang can be quite spicy hence adding the right amount of water could probably help with the spiciness.
