New Property Address not Showing on a lot of databases

We recently purchased a property and we're about to settle. We're currently in the process of looking into Electricity, Telephone, Internet, Insurance etc. and finding that the address is missing off a lot of the databases so it's really limiting our choices and hindering the process. Has anyone experienced anything similar or know what we need to do/who we need to contact to get this rectified?

Thanks in Advance!

Can you not option to enter the address manually and can you simply provide an NMI for electricity and gas?

    • Yes think I'll have to explore this route for now. But I can tell this is going to be annoying.

was your property sub-divided? if so, it wasn't done properly

  • I had this issue when we developed a block that never had a house.
I either manually entered the address or emailed the company involved to update their database.
The funny thing is it was NSW Planning that didnt have my address on file as housing so the ones that based details off their database didnt find my place, but the ones that base it off council records did.
Had to call and wait with telstra to change from my previous address to change my NBN connection over, even thought the NBN groundwork had already been done and was showing in NBN system.
Patience is your friend, even now almost a year later, we still dont show on some auto fill websites (Aldi, im looking at you)

    • ok patience is a virtue I guess. Cheers.

  • Not sure how useful this is but apparently it may come from the council in NSW?

NSW LRS is not responsible for the maintenance of property addresses in NSW. A local council assigns property addresses and the addressing database is maintained by Spatial Services.

Address details can change for a property after the registration of a plan. To check your property is correctly detailed on the NSW land title register conduct a ‘Reverse Street Address Inquiry’ in the NSW LRS Online Portal.

I've heard of many companies use other companies databases (like Google or Expiran), I think Aus Post talks a lot about address validation: https://auspost.com.au/business/marketing-and-communications…

If chasing them backwards may help find the culprit also?

  • There is nothing you need to do or can do, apart from waiting for a year or so. In the mean time when you sign up for services, you have to call the provider up rather then signing up online.

It is a while ago when I read this. Our addresses we see online mostly come from a snapshot Telstra landline database, and each type of service (energy, NBN etc) have their own databases that infer from that snapshot. That snapshot gets updated slowly, like 6 monthly. It is weird but that's how it is.

I saw on whirlpool that this link https://nationalmap.gov.au/ might give you some info on when your address gets recognised by different service provider.

Regardless, nothing the council or post office can help. Just sign up to service by calling them.

I went through same pain when moving into a newly divided block.

    • Cheers. I can see it on that link. This is the frustrating thing. It show's on half the databases but not the other.

  • Check with your neighbours to see if there is an old way of addressing (pre-subdivision). The ABB NBN POI checker uses the "old" way which means that you won't find your house unless you use pre-subdivision address.

    • Ok cheers. Will check with the previous owners and the neighbours. The houses in my street show but 3 or 4 of them are missing. Weird
