Hi, I have a hsbc debit card, however large purchases eg council rates, computer, insurance, I won’t be entitled to a cash back.
Is there other cashback or points given for a debit card for large purchases?

Not good value tho. Credit card with reward points is much better.
MCO looks interesting…will probably give it a go if I run out of CC to churn
Bankwest is only 3points per purchase - so more suited to purchases <$3
This is the best one for pay-wave once you've got it setup.
It's a real (profanity) of a bank to have to deal with.
HSBC
2% cashback when they tap and pay using Visa payWave, Apple Pay or Google Pay on eligible purchases under AUD100
Pros:
- Debit card (not credit card)
- Google/Apple Pay
- 2% cash back each time you use paywave
Cons:
- Very slow Netbank
- Very, very paranoid security hoops to jump through each time you log in, withdraw, etc
- Have to deposit 2000 into the account every month (can withdraw immediately though)
- No PayID
- Only useful for in-person paywave purchases, not large / online purchases.
You can get around the slow transfer speed by doing a card to card beem it transfer (i.e. cba debit to hsbc debit)
I use qantas travel debit card for purchases over 100 and direct debits via card number. It is free and pays 1 point per 4 dollars. Then I get auto rewards, a gift card sent to me. Dont think it pays on govt bills bit I used it for green slip insurance etc
Virgin Money (here in the randomiser) will give you 8 reward points for each transaction, direct debit or Bpay payment, and will give you 5000 points for signing up. worth over $20
Is that the redeem rate? ~250 points = $1?
EDIT: Looks like it might be 2000 points = $10 if the example at the top of this blog post is to go by:

Unfortunately, while 8 points might be good value for low value transactions, my Coles card has 2 points per dollar spend, same reward rate, so anything above $4 would be better to go on the Coles card.
Hi,
Have a look at the thread (formally known as):
