Like now when Deliveroo are giving free delivery for Victorians, does it come out of their cut/fees or do they make the restaurant "pay" for it?
Who eats the cost for free app delivery deals?
Comments
I assume Deliveroo funds it; otherwise, we would likely see a commensurate increase in item prices by the restaurants to make up for the loss.
Deliveroo 'eats' the fee, out of the cut they take. Not sure how much Deliveroo take, but ubereats takes ~30% of the total price of food. + all the delivery fee + all the service charge fee (What is this anyhow?).
The service charge is extra profit for Uber.

It's 35% for independents 32% for chains.
It's just extra profit with a name really. It's a very Americanised way of doing business. 1. Take an essential step of the work. 2. Add "fee" on the end. In North America/Canada there is a "documentation fee" when you buy a car (around $600). It's stupid. Like going to a restaurant and getting charged a Plating Fee for your meal.
So what is a corking fee??
That is optional and applicable on when you are uncorking a wine bottle.
Plating is not optional as all meals require it unless you are going there for drinks only.
So what is a corking fee??
Its when you BYO wine, so the fee covers the cost of staff to open your bottle, serve it during the night and supply the glasses etc.
They are providing something for this fee and is optional. Don't want to pay a corking fee, don't BYO wine.

Yes its the American way of nickel and diming the customer to death. Like resort fees and taxes etc put on at the end, tipping and so on.
But we don't work that way here. So Uber should piss these BS fees off the same as 'tipping' your driver, yeah this isn't the USA. Pay them a decent rate to start with!
If you haven't noticed Australia has become America Lite, just without the guns.
@meowsers: Yeah I've noticed…. sadly.

Known in the US as “tipping” 😀
