I'm looking for the best plan to simply keep a number alive. I've barely used 1GB of a Boost Prepaid $140 for $150 80GB 12month, which is coming up for expiry and I don't want to fork out that much for something I'll hardly use. Thanks!
Best Prepaid Plan to Keep a Number Alive?

Thanks. I just wish their coverage was as good as Boost's! Any idea whether you can link the Pay As You Go plan to the Family Plan?
Hoping to get a MVNO on Telstra if possible though.
ALDI is a Telstra MVNO. Coverage is close to boost. Should be equivalent everywhere there is either Optus or Vodafone, only when Telstra is the only network available does it sometimes not give coverage (so very regional).
unfortunately I am pure telstra, so cannot answer the question.
While we are on this subject, does anyone know any better SIM cards besides ALDI on keeping your number alive so you can receive SMS confirmations from banks, when you are overseas?
ALDI Mobile seems to be the most reasonable choice with their $5 PAYG plan, and their support confirmed that you can receive messages for free while overseas for the 365 day duration. If you want to extend it, just top up $15 (minimum sum allowed) through their website or app and you get another 365 day extension.
Anyone know of anything better?
I don't think you're going to find better than $5 a year and $15 per year after that. I haven't seen anything come even remotely close to Aldi's $5 for 365 days.
Did a bit of digging, looks like ALDI's definitely the best. Came across this list http://wizard.id.au/spreadsheet/australian-mobile-cap-plan-c…
The only other one is Zero Mobile which has an initial outlay of $20, $0/mo, free 1GB/mo, but some sketchy af past getting banned from operating in Singapore & crazy T&C plus opting into getting served ads based on location.
Port to Amaysim's cheapest plan (make sure you use Cashrewards/ShopBack as well).
Also $5/month - no data
You would be better off going with Amaysim's payg (Pay as you go.) They don't mind if you never make calls.
If only Optus' coverage didn't suck!
How much is Amaysim's PAYG?
You only pay when you make a call, text, or use data. They send a bill when it reaches $10 or more. You do have to be careful that you don't turn on, or forget to turn off data, since you pay per MB.
i undestand that aldi recharge is $15 card. do we need to use the full $15 on the recharge or can we use $5 at a time?
Ok this might be a dumb question but is it possible to buy an ALDI $5 SIM Starter & just port the number over from the previous ALDI $5 SIM Starter?
Doubt it. After $5 finishes at the end of 365 day, you will have to buy credit online.
Aldi mobile for sure. Can be as low as $5 for 365 days and you just pay for what you use out of that initial credit.
It’s 5c per megabyte though, but even if you used 1GB like you did in the previous 12 months that’s $50 worth of data.
Otherwise if you think you’ll make a lot of calls and texts, Catch has a $120 expiry with unlimited calls and texts
