Looking for a MOBO for i7 6700

Hello everyone,

Went to turn on my HTPC for the first time in 6 months and it wont boot. Reseated the RAM, reseated the graphics card, cleared the CMOS, tried one stick of RAM in different sockets, tired another graphics card, pulled out all accessories and nothing works. I did not try another power supply. Took it all out of the case and put it on my table with just the graphics card and ram, cpu. Bridged the power and it still does not work !

I think it must be the motherboard which is a ASRock B150M Pro4/D3. Can any suggest a replacement ?

    Sell the 6700 and ram
Put the funds towards an i3 10th gen or entry level ryzen combo

Going to struggle to get a reliable 6th gen 1151 board under $100 from gumtree or ebay.

    $120 New

It's very rare for a motherboard to kick the bucket without being used.

You should probably test the power supply first. You can get a tool that costs less than $20 that does the job. https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/blt0c2/a_proper_p…

    1. remove the cmos battery ,don't seat it again and power on the system
    2. remove the RAM and power on, check whether you are getting POST beep.
    3. try using onboard GPU by removing PCIe one

Look at dust as well which can cause overheating and in very rare cases micro shorting if there is enough of it. Pull apart, clean and reassemble and that might fix your problem. I have done this twice over the years for my father's PC which stopped working. Literally do nothing else but pull apart, clean and put back together can work wonders. If anything it might also help re-seat something that has wiggled its way loose over time.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone. So I have no clue what happened but it works again.. Seems a bit temperamental.
